Power Awning remote?
Someone over on the SOB forum came up with this idea for an awning remote, do you suppose it'll work on a Monty?
As I researched about how to do this and if it was even feasible I found that the awning power system was really easy .
since we already have a momentary rocker inside I had to figure out how it powered the awning and found that the rocker simply just just reverses the polarity of the motor . Huh thats easy all I need is a remote control that reverses polarity which after a little bit of searching I found one .
A few clicks later and 20 bones it was on its way .
Installed it tonight after work in about 35 minutes . And altho preliminary tests shows that IT does in fact work I cannot fully deploy my awning since the winds are in the 20 mph range and 30 mph gusts .
But I did run it out and in about 3 foot about 6 times and all is good!
I will do some further testing to make sure but its so simple that I cannot for see any issues .

Great idea! I wonder what the range of it is. I also wonder if it might open or close an awning on someone else’s’ camper if they are parked close to you

Hey Dick,
Did you not receive a remote with your Monty? Should be standard. Should work landing gear, stabilizers, slides, awning, and scare lights. Listed as part of Hickory Edition package. Larry

x2... Our factory supplied remote control works very well controlling all the features mentioned above. I would be asking your dealer for your's!!!

Sorry, should have mentioned, mine has it but older rigs and Mountaineers probably don't. Just wanted to share what they might do.

Go ahead and laugh, but the truth is the rig is almost a year old now and I've only had the awning out twice. Six hours at the rally in the rain and then had to pull it in in the night when the wind came up and 45 minutes in Arizona until the wind came up. Between camping in Kansas and New Mexico there isn't a whole lot of opportunity to run it out.

You could run it out and leave it but then you may have to come to Nebraska to pick it up out of a tree here near Omaha! I think we sat at a couple of campgrounds on our way back from our Southern Journey for an extra day or two because of the winds and I was not about to pull the Monte in them. Call me a chicken but I've seen a couple of fivers and the TV along with some cross country haulers sitting on their sides in the median or off the side of the road because of a cross wind. Not a pretty sight! Just waited a day or two and it calmed down and off we rolled!
