Both heaters not working
Our gas heater is not working and our heat pump is not working as it should. The thermostat displays “heat gas-electric “ it usually displays electric or gas. I’m thinking a bad thermostat but I don’t have a clue

If you suspect the thermostat, maybe swap it with the bedroom thermostat?

That didn’t work. It should say either gas or electric. Not both. When you turn on the electric heat it turns the gas heater on as well. When you turn on the gas heater it only stays on for 30 seconds then turns off.

Make sure the fan setting on the thermostat is set to automatic.

There is no fan setting on the thermostat for either heater. Heat is either gas or electric.

Can you post a pic of your TStat? Also, when the gas furnace runs for 30 seconds, does just the fan run or do you hear it attempting to ignite? Does it ignite then turn off?

We think the sail switch might be broken on the gas furnace, the fan turns on but it doesn’t ignite. But that doesn’t explain the electric heater not working properly. Every time you turn the electric heater on it turns the gas heater on with it.

I'm not familiar with this TStat so will have to do some research.
A sail switch is a pretty basic switch...rarely goes bad though it's possible. Most likely, if the sail switch is the culprit it's probably just dirty. They are easy to pull and clean. Lint can get blown into it and prevent it from closing. Try that first. Also, sometimes just jiggling the various wire connections on the main board can solve the problem...has worked for me on three different trailers including my current one.

Can you lift the TStat off of the wall and get the model number? Also, are you sure you have a heat pump in your AC?
These models, for instance, show function for only a gas furnace.
Heat and Cool – 9430*354*, 9430*355*

It’s definitely a heat pump. I’m not at the trailer right now so I don’t have model number

I would double check the model of the TStat to make sure it is designed to activate a heat pump. Beyond that I would suspect a faulty TStat or incorrect wiring. You might need to contact Airxcel/Suburban directly. They will probably help you troubleshoot it as well.

It is designed to activate a heat pump. We figured out it’s the circuit board getting moisture on it. It’s under warranty
