Montana on Order
We are moving up from our 2011 Keystone Copper Canyon 273 to a 2020 Montana High Country 294RL. The rig is on order-should arrive by mid March. I've been on the Keystone forum for several years and gained a ton of knowledge, so it was only logical to also join the Montana group.
I may put up another post shortly, as I'm having doubts about the "weight police" with the new rig. I know everyone has beat the topic to death, but now I have so many numbers in my head, I'm not sure my 1 ton is suffciant.

If you are towing with a one-ton, you'll have no problems. Yours is 34 feet and a pin weight 2300 pounds. I'm pretty sure almost any one-ton, gas or diesel, SRW or DRW will be able to handle that just fine.

Thank you for the reply.With my 30 foot Copper Canyon loaded: Steer axle was 5120 lbs. Drive axle: 5880 lbs. Pin weight was 1980 lbs with trailer axles at 7560 (total trailer 9540 lbs),
My one ton SRW Duramax has a payload of 3514 lbs. GVWR of 11,500 lbs. My worry is that the loaded pin weight on the 294RL will be close to 2900 lbs with a GVWR of 14,300 lbs. Will I make rear axle weight at max 7050 lbs?

Welcome aboard! You'll be fine with a 1 ton...either an SRW or DRW. That's a nice new floor plan. Keep us informed on how you like it.

Welcome to the forum! We pull with a dually because our pin weight is too much for single rear wheels. You can't buy tires to handle the weight even if the truck thinks it can. That said our rig is way heavier than yours so you should have no issues at all.

Take the entire rig to a CAT scale after you leave the dealership and get the REAL numbers for your rig. That is the only way to know exactly what your rig weighs. Also weigh it again fully loaded for a trip. And don't forget to measure from the highest point to the ground when hitched to know exactly how tall your rig is.

And check your tire sidewall rating to be sure they will carry the load.

We just picked up our Montana High Country 295rl in November 2019. We have taken a few short trips to break it in since then. I pull with a 3/4 ton f 250 diesel. No issue what so ever. You will be pleased with your selection! We have enjoyed every minute so far. Happy camping!!

Thanks to everyone for the responses. The rig is 7-10 days out. When we leave the Dealership-I’m heading straight to the CAT scale to get the empty weight and pin weight.
I’ll post back with the numbers.

A 1T should be okay, and use the check list and don't accept (sign for) the unit until you're satisfied.
