Trestle Jack - Damage Axle

Anyone ever try using one of these? Looks like they would support the axle is a safe manner (cupped). But we are told not to jack up or lift by the axle.

To me it’s yet another gimmick. I will continue use bottle jack and block of wood if jacking at the axle.. jack at the spring u bolt mount area and be done with it.

Or use the six point hyd levelers in manual mode

For service work, probably work fine though I don't lift on an axle, only the spring hangers. That demo is misleading though in that it shows a fully inflated tire. It probably would not work well if at all with a flat or a totally shredded tire nor on a soft or sloped roadside shoulder.. I'll use the bottle jack on the road and my trolley jack in the driveway.

I agree with Dave. With a flat tire the axle would be about 4"-5" closer to the ground and the angle of that lift would be more severe making the lift more likely to slip along the ground. Product ads always look pretty neat until you consider the real world.

As far as lifting on the axle, many of us (most?) use a bottle jack between the U bolts and I don't remember any one ever having had an axle problem doing that.

I'm with the folks above. Not something that I would use.

Bottle jack between the U bolts here... doesn't take up as much room to haul and is much easier!

Use hydraulic leveling jacks if possible. Or pull trailer up on wood blocks on unaffected wheel.

I'm sticking with the methods mentioned. Was just wondering.

Looks like a great way to bend the axle. Bottle jack under the spring bolts

Everyone has the right answer. Under the U-Bolts ONLY if you don't want to bend your axle.
