Surge protector issues with adapting to lower amps or inverter generator use

I am looking at EMS surge protection and have several questions.

1-If I adapt down to 30amp or 15amp due to unavailability of 50amp can I still use the surge protector. I am aware at lower amperage that I'm limited to one or no AC use, limited appliances at once, but what happens with the protector

2-Portable vs hard wired

3-Recommended brands vs brands to avoid

4-Anything else I should know

Thanks,
Mike

I highly recommend Progressive, very reliable and great customer service. Only brand I have ever used. I prefer portable, some prefer hardwire, same capabilities both configurations. Recommend you call Progressive direct (telephone numbers on their webpage, ProgressiveIndustries) and ask them about 15A and specific model capabilities.

I have Progressive 50 Amp and use it on 30 all the time. My understanding is you can do what’s necessary and it will still do it’s job.

Progressive EMS for me also and I have also used it for 30amps. Since I run my third AC off the 20 or 30 amp receptical besides using the 50 I have a seperate EMS for that line.

Use with 50A, 30A, 20A and 15A feeds no problem.

We went with hard wired, your personal preference. But you may need a way to keep it from walking away if left unattended using portable

Progressive Industries recommended. Too many reasons but warranty and bypass come to the top of my reasons
