Mor Ryde X Factor
My upgrade this year is to install the Mor Ryde X Factor. IMOP I think three bars should be installed but three bars will be pricey. I have pics from Ozz(I believe) who made his. I like the solid bar Ozz has as opposed to the adjustable(do not care for all the holes) bar Mor Ryde has. My rv buddy and I plan to fabricate bars for our units. Our only cost will be supplies and our time. Bingo posted some pics of his 3750FL fix also
My question is which position should first bar be installed? We probably will not be able to do all bars at same time. Of course we could wait until we fab the three bars and install but we want to see if our work is right before we fab additional bars. We are thinking first bar should be installed between the wheels.

I also made my own for the center support only. Total cost was under $50 including paint . I think the center support is the most important. The outer spring hanger points require a bit more design / build time due to the shackle bolt. Some have simply installed the center brace and then just beefed up the outer spring eye mounts.

The x factor is square as is dieselguy's design. I would stay away from a solid round bar due to soon or later it will exhibit "bar sag".

If you are only going to install one then put it in the center. Also, just as an FYI, if you contact MOR/ryde and let them know what rig and axles you have, they CAN sell and ship a non-adjustable one piece bar to you. That is what I did for ours and another one of our members a few years back. At that time (May 2011) each X-Factor was $118.32. The cost for both was $289.40 including shipping. Dieselguy, by the looks of your picture, the support tube uses the inside holes on the shear spring housing and I am guessing that you had to use slightly longer grade 8 bolts for bolt it in place. I can see that this would really add a lot of strength to the shear spring housings on both side during turns...is that the main reason to have one added? John

jcurtis: The shear spring housings stick down alot farther than a regular equilizer mount so its design makes a longer "torque arm" to twist the frame in that area. I think that's what Morryde found out after their design was in production, so the company started offering the XFactor. I just kinda sorta copied the mod Morryde had for sale as I thought @$120 was a bit much for a piece of square tube with brackets on both ends. The bolts are 1/2" longer ... top ones require a little patience to install.

If you go with IS MorRyd uses square tubes welded in place.

I had all 3 X Factor braces installed. IF I was doing it and could buy a finished part for $120 is it really worth your time to design and build it. You also need 4 new wet bolts for the spring ends. The bolts are about $6-10 each. Are part of the X Factor package.
On my '14 the Lippert spring hangers are 2.0-2.15" wide. This exceeds the width that Dexter specs for their 1.75" spring. When you install the new wet bolts, expect the outer spring hanger to bend inward almost 1/4" with the X Factor installed as seen in this picture. This is the left front but all 4 are the same.

I wish to order the Moryde X-Factor cross brace, but I am trying to determine if this is something I can do.
I am pretty handy, and read the instructions online.
My concern is if I raise the Montana with the leveling system, it mentions to jack up the axels. Does that mean I need 4 jacks to raise each side?
Is there any tension on the bolts that need to be removed, and if so, how do you relieve that tension?
Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming you are installing the center brace only as I did ... with level-up, I'd think only 2 jacks would be needed. I used 2 floor jacks. Once your fiver is lifted off the wheels, the only weight involved is wheels and axles with little tension on the effected bolts. There are bolts on both sides of the shear springs, so it's not like once you remove the inner bolts nothing is holding it. The top bolts will require some patience to install.
If you plan on all 3 crossbraces, again I'd think only 2 jacks are needed as you would be involving one axle at a time. The bolts in each spring eye have serrations under the head, so you have to drive them out with a brass punch or equivelant. You will have to drive the new longer ones back in similarily. Sometimes a C-Clamp and a piece of wood will assist the jacks in realigning the spring eye should it move much. Do not try and spin the spring eye (shackle) bolts out ... it will damage your spring eye brackets.

I am seeing folks that say one is ok and some that have 3 installed. I quess I am a little confused with that. Is there a wrong way to configure these
on the rv like one in the middle and one forward and nothing in the back? I would think that the flex would be mostly in the middle would that be correct?
trying to wrap my head around this

With the LRE4000 suspension system, the middle shear spring mount sticks down way farther than the old plain shackle equalizer. That's the main reason I fabbed an XFactor clone. Some owners have had the outboard spring eye mounts twist or break, so they have gone with the additional two brace bars on the outboard spring eye mounts. Since I have never manuvered my fivers like zero turn mowers, I've never had the outboard mount issue.

I think I would've used a spacer instead of pulling the shackles over like that?
