Wa4bmg - no I did not go for the tow boss option as mine is SRW and that option requires a dually. I got the truck on 8/31 and I left for Colorado on 9/2 - and just got home tonight. Truck has been sitting in my driveway just waiting for me to start driving it and really checking things out. Plan on getting my hitch in this week and then testing out how it pulls the 3400.

ron, the pic of your f-350 and the monty hooked up, it looks like you ride a little nose high? am i correct? and if so, how nose high are you? i take it that is your "old" ford...and i imagine your new one probably rides at the same height? just curious because i have an 05 ctd and an 06 3400rl...i ride 6 inches nose high and am looking to decrease that. i'm just trying to figure out if riding that nose high is bad for the axles on the monty. i'm sure the rear axle is bearing most of the load of the monty and i'm not sure what adverse effects that will have on the monty.

I put my hitch in yesterday and took the Montana for a test ride. Was quite impressed with it's power, ride, handling and tow-ability on the King Ranch. I need to test it's overall hill pulling power yet. The Montana sits quite level on the King Ranch similar to my old 2001 F350 height. I have 18 inch wheels on my new truck and was a little worried about the height and riding level as both the trailer king pin and the truck hitch are set at their lowest adjustment. When I hook up the Montana the truck bed drops almost 3 inches but does not engage the helper springs......the end result it's level when pulling and the helper springs are engaging as the suspension works over the road and bumps as needed. A good set-up!
We're leaving this AM for the Jersey shore so I can report more when I get back.

I sit a little nose high when towing, not more than a couple of inches. In the picture I have it was sitting on the ground on the front jacks. There is no weight on the truck at all. In fact i unhooked from it and then backed back under it to take the photo's. Now that we have it loaded for summer camping it squats the F350 about an inch and a half when all hooked up. I am going to adjust the hitch down a hole and try to get closer to level when I have some time this week.
