Replace TV
We have a 2010 Montana 3400RL which we do not want to replace. Has anyone upgraded living room TV to a Smart TV? What kind and how difficult to replace. Thank you.

Don't remember the brand, but on our 2010 we got an LED TV from Best Buy and it was easy to get it on and off the bracket.

My 2007 3075RL 27" TV was a heavy, heavy boat anchor thing that I replaced with a Samsung LED 32" TV (not a smart TV). I know yours is installed in a cabinet, but not how it is installed, whether sitting on a base or hanging on a TV mount. But the new LED TVs are so thin and lightweight that they are easy to mount. If yours is sitting on a base, you will have to install a TV mount maybe by adding a piece of plywood behind it. If it already has a TV mount, you may be able to use what is already there.
Someone with owns or has owned a 3400RL should be along to confirm the existing mounting if you don't already know.
Oops! Dick confirmed it before I finished typing.

We replaced our TVs on our 2011 3750fl. The Vesa pattern on our swivel mount in the RV didn’t match the new tv so I made a template and drilled new holes. The old pattern was 400x400 and the new tv was 200x300.

Many member have changed out the old bulbous TVs for LCDs. Do a Search on "3400 tv replace" and you will get lots of hits. here is one that fits you to a "T".

Only issue I had was that the old TV mounting holes were very close to the surface, this short screws. The new Samsung holes had a deeper throat and I had to visit Lowes.

Replacing Tv
We just finished placing a new Samsung smart TV in our 2012 3100RL. Because the mounting holes on the TV were metric (M 4/0.7) and didn't match the holes in the bracket I made a 3/4in plywood adapter plate. For the holes going to the bracket I used T nuts to secure the adapter to the bracket. It took some work but it's secure and looks "normal". This is a great forum. Good luck with your project.

Just upgraded last week to a 32” Samsung. Did have to modify the bracket by adding four mounting holes and had to cut a piece of the bracket out to accommodate all the plugins. Not hard to do. Width on the new tv is perfect. But the newer TVs are shorter than the old one. About a 3” gap on the top. Plan on finding some oak trim to match and closing the gap a little. The Samsung picture is amazing.

We have a 2007 3500RL. When we replaced the old tube tv, I screwed wood cross members on the backside of door and set my mounting brackets.
After finishing with the tv, I cut the wall at the work center and put a slide out shelf. This worked perfect for our printer at the time. There was an awful lot of wasted space in the tv cabinet.
Pictures upon request.
Happy Trails,
Wheelhouse

Replaced tv
I purchased a 2016 375fl in February and the tv in the front did not work. I replaced it with a 50 inch smart Samsung tv from Walmart. The tv comes with free samsung tv which turns out to be exceptional with a good internet connection. TV has many other programs also. This tv was a great replacement for the one that come from the manufacture.

I replaced my 50” front room TV with 50” smart TV. In my case the holes on the existing bracket didn’t match up with the holes in the smart tv. That makes a lot of sense doesn’t it!I just drilled 4 new holes in the existing bracket and mounted the smart TV. I put a piece of paper against the back of the smart TV and punched holes in the paper that aligned with the TV holes. I used the paper as my template for drilling the bracket.

We have a 2006 2980RL and just installed a new 32" Toshiba TV. Got it for $129 on Amazon. The opening in the cabinet would only handle a 24", but i bought a wall mount with a 19" extension arm. Mounted it to the side wall of the cabinet where i found a stud. With wall mount on the side wall when in transit the TV will slide diagonally into the opening and rides perfectly. We have had no problems doing it this way.

We have two non smart VIZIOs in our 5er. Great picture. We just replaced the TV in the house with a smart version, aTCL.
Before we bought this new house TV, I did a web search using the terms "Best smart TVs for 2020". This in turn came up with TCL, VIZIO, LG and Samsung primarily with SONY occasionally showing up. We ended up at Best Buy with free, next day delivery to the front door. I have to say that the TCL has an impressive picture and was plug and play. If the right VIZIO had been available, probably our experience would have gone that route as we have had zero problems with the 2 in the 5er and a "spare" we inherited.

I replaced the TV in our 2013 Montana 3400RL two months ago. Upgraded to a Samsung 40" Smart TV from Costco. Original TV bracket and new TV mounting holes are the same pattern. Had to drill the bracket holes larger to accommodate the larger TV screws. TV does not slide into original spot in entertainment center. So I use a strap and the same latches to secure TV. Well worth it, much better picture, plus all the Smart TV extras!

I have a 2009 34rl (my home). I also have a 26 ft Cougar for travel. I replaced the Cougar tv with the largest one Costco had that would fit physically in the space. I had to do some involved work as the wall bracket needed to be moved in order to center the unit. I will move this new tv to the Montana when I return home. It will be wider than the space allotted but I will manipulate what ever needs to be manipulated to make it work. The "travel locks" are what I anticipate being the most difficult adjustment. If I remove the o.e.m. brackets I will replace with Velcro straps. Where there is a will there's is a way.
A nice note, the newer TV's are much lighter than the older making the Montana supplied brackets much more than adaquet.
