But the thing is....We had Missions on our 06 3400 for over 10K miles and never had a issue. We had Coopers on the rig and never had a issue. We now have Generals on the rig and have not had a issue. What does all that mean....??? I agree we should have the best tires we can afford that are compatable with our mode of travel and use. That does not mean that all chinese tires or and other brand are bad tires for our individual use??? Or does it...

When we bought our new 3455 last month I made the dealer install G614's on all 5 wheels or we had no deal... They took off the Marathons installed the 614's.
I don't think that they are over kill. Especially on my rig. But for me its all about the tires. The stronger the better. I'll take oversize tires vs close to capacity any time.

Well, I called GY customer service and spoke with Kim, a supervisor. She bascially told me that they would not offer any credit nor deal with any issue when it comes to the tires. She stated that since we knew what tires were on the rig when it was purchased and once it was taken off the lot that it was our problem. I noted to her that I was not trying to be unreasonable and was not looking for a freebie and only wanted to head off at the pass any potential issues and avoid having to make the dreaded call tht one of their tires had shreaded my RV. She said there were no issues with the tires we had on the rig and that we should go back to Keystone as they put the tires on the rig to begin with.
I called another customer service rep and she pretty much said the same thing but did give me a number to GY Executive Referral and speak with them further. I called an left a message.
While I am waiting with bated breath for the call back I spoke with my dealer, Scott Motorcoach in Lakewood, NJ. I explained our concerns and asked if they would be willing to change the tires from our traded in rig which we had just put on 614's back in October and had less than 1000 miles on them. He said that if Keystone gave it the blessing they would probably do it.
I called Keystone CS. They said that in the end they do not warranty the tires so anything with the tires would go back to GY but that if Treddit and Dexter had no issues they would not have any issues.
I called Treddit and spoke with Jennifer who noted that since the G614's are an upgrade for the Montana's thru the dealer and since the rims can handle the heavier tires and PSI that they had no issues.
So now I wait for Scott's to give me the nod to swap our old (new) tires out for the cost of the labor to have the work done.
So in the end, everyone up and down the line (except for GY) knows these tires are an issue and even Jennifer from Treddit stated that she would put nothing but a G rated tire on the size RV we tow, but no one really wants to do anything about it.
Got to love corporate America!!!

Rich, count your blessings. It's great you never had a problem. Perhaps you are a better driver, or should I say parker than many. GoodYear examined my bulging Marathons and concluded that the belts had given out due to the twisting strains put on them from tight parking. Who knows for sure?????

We had the Marathons on some of our lighter RV's in the past and never had a tire issue but then did not use the rv as much , We only changed tires because of age. We are very aware of the side stress on the tires and suspension when backing this heavy rig and do our best to avoid that kind of stress. That is one reason we always ask for pull troughs when travelling.

Well folks we were able to strike a deal with our dealer who will swap out the new G614's from our traded in SOB to our new 3580. It looks like they will charge us $400 +/- to remove the tires from the SOB's rims and put them on our rims. A lot better than the alternative.
It will certainly give us some POM especially after speaking with our local GY dealer who said that he would not recommend any E or even a G rated tire that does not have steel belts and sidewalls. the Marathons are nylon core which is why they don't last on trailers due the stress placed on the sidewalls.
Thanks to everyone's advise and comments.

As far as we can determine the G6 14's are a 1100.00 option. To be honest we would not have purchased a Montana without the G614,s. We purchased the big sky and they are OEM.. I am wondering how many folks would pay the 1100.00 for the G614 tires IF they were a option....????

Our 2009 3455 Monty has been in storage for the winter in Bakersfield CA. Before I take it on the road in early May I plan on putting the G614's on. What are the experiences and where are folks purchasing the tires? In Bakersfield there is an Americas Tire (Discount Tire here in Denver area) where I believe I can get them ordered. How about Camping World or ?? What size should I be purchasing? Any other help is appreciated.

Camping World is usually over priced on the G614s. I would try Americas Tire. If you are a member of Sam's Club they can order them. Size is 235/85/16

I did see that Camping World was offering G614's installed for $386/ tire. Check the tires you have on now but they should be ST or LT235 80R16's. The G614's will be LT235 85R16's, difference is in the tire diameter by a little less than 3/4". Check to make sure your rims are rated for the higher 110PSI.
Good Luck!

We are putting the G614's on next week. Decided to go through America's Tire. What's the thought on keeping the spare that we have since it is new????

Hi Ron and Cathie,
There is a size difference on these, 80's (Marathons) versus 85's (G614s) so you wouldn't want to use the spare in my opinion. Maybe you could get something cheaper than a G614 but in the same size...

I just put G614's on my trailer but the service guy convinced me to leave the spare alone as a Marathon because it would only be used for emergency until I got a the g614 fixed or replaced. This saved me over $360.00 (Installed).

I went with all 614's thinking if I had to have one plugged or patched the spare could go on and the damaged tire would become the spare.

I am curious as to how a different size tire with different rotation speed would affect a straight axle?? I would think something would have to give and I would hope it would be the tire and not the axle? Just curious but this does sound like a troubling situation to me, of course I could be wrong which would be nothing new!!

If you have a big and small tire on one side the larger one will carry more of the load. Will the difference between a 235-80 and 235-85 matter? Don't know

Where is everyone purchasing the larger wheels when you change to the G614s. We have spoke with Tredit and their price is around
$94.00 if we pick them up there but our schedule will not allow this until the later part of October. Would like to find the larger wheels somewhere else as we have already purchased the tires and cannot inflate them properly because of the 80 psi rims. We had an emergency blow out so we just purchased all 4 of them then so now need to have them put on the bigger rims.

A little pricey, but we went with ALCOA aluminum trailer rims back in 2006 for our first rig - when we bought our Big Sky we transferred the rims and tires to the new trailer.

But from who did you purchase them? We can't find the rims except from Tredit Tire in Indiana. If we could get them locally we could have them changed out before we travel to Wisconsin in 2 weeks for our summer job. Won't have time to go to Indiana to get them from Tredit until we leave Wisconsin in October.
