Evap/Swamp Cooler Success!

Just FYI...I purchased a tabletop swamp cooler this weekend at a local store to assist my single AC in the 3400RL. The single AC is at the far end of the unit from the bedroom, where I need cooling the most, so I wanted something to help with cooling the bedroom.

This unit is very basic and has about a gallon water capacity with 4 fan speeds. Our weather here in Nevada is hot and very dry, so a swamp cooler seems a good way to go.

And it is! This weekend was 95 degrees and the cooler held the bedroom to comfortable temps the entire time. Raising the humidity made it a bit more comfortable and slightly reduced the morning dry mouth issue (but not completely).

Seems that adding a swamp cooler and some circulation did the trick for now. $65 well spent. Enjoy...

Swamp cooler work great as long as the humidity is low. Used one most of my life in the hot dry climate of the Central Valley of California. We used to put ice in the water to put it in turbo mode.

Grew up in EL Paso Texas, everyone had swamp coolers, don't recall anyone while growing up that had AC. One of my teenage chores was to get up on the roof periodically and change the pads.

You have found a remedy to cooling your rv that is very inexpensive which is great. Just stay in low humidity areas and it will be great. As a kid we use to visit relatives in Wichita Falls Texas and they had swamp coolers. This is the first place i saw them. As for me, i live in the a/c capital of the world. If you come to Houston with our 90 to 100% humidity then the coolers would be useless. Good luck and stay cool.

decart.. Would you mind specifying what brand you bought. I couldn't find much in the $65 range. Thanks
