EASY PEASY antifreeze suckie

ok.... so i have been dealing with Chemical pumps for 30 years professionally .

4 thing effect the ability to "DRAW" up any liquid

1. size of the pump
2. size of the input pipe ( in this case 1/2 or 5/8" garden hose)
3. the lift (how far below the height of the pump
4. restriction in the input line (in this case a check valve)

So instead of having to hold the check valve in by reversing the screen washer i reduced the size of the suction line to 3/8 id.

I also am using a 5 gallon bucket so i can put 3 gallons of antifreeze in and not have to run back and forth with only 1 gallon. ( and then risk getting air in the line .

my line will now lift easily from the ground

like i said.....EASY PEASY suckie

You want easier peasy. Do as I have done for 20 years. Simply dump 2-3 gallons in the fresh tank and use the pump to pump through all fixtures. Done in 10 mins. Flush real good in the spring with several tanks of water.

Hate to break it to ya.....but the easy peasy flush tank fill becomes pain in the assey when you have to flushy tankie few timesy

much easier to flush water line than multiple tank fills ---to each his own

I simply set my gallon jug of antifreeze up in the basement storage compartment right beside the winterizing intake. A short 5' section of water hose and I'm off to the races.

No way will I purposely put anti freeze in our fresh water tank. I did put it in our water heater one time by accident. That was enough of a PITA to flush out in spring that I've never done it again.

This worked well for me too but then we went full-time and never had to winterize again.

very nice idea

I still prefer not to use chemicals and blow out the lines.

^^^^^^ this...

I don't want that antifreeze anywhere in my lines, let alone in my fresh water tank. I don't want the hassle of getting every last drop of that nasty tasting water out of the lines...

YMMV...

Whatever works for you is the best way.

I blow out the lines with the HW heater not isolated, then isolate it and use the on board pump to draw that pink stuff through the lines. Without a washer, permanebt filter and ice maker, and saving some for the traps I use a bit over a gallon and a quarter. If you don't use that on board pump, you risk ice failure of it as well as the attached filter.

I found that dewinterizing the system via the on board pump, a clean 5 gallon bucket of potable water and winterizing port will remove almost all of the residual pink stuff taste

After having a TT without a winterizing port, will never add pink stuff to the fresh tank - bleeehhh. It took probably a couple hundred gallons of water to flush that tank that had a low point drain that left a half inch of evil stuff in the bottom.
