The rubber seal can cause that. If you take the screen off you can reach up and help it open.

That's what Fantastic Fan told me when mine did that. That the gasket would sometimes stick preventing the cover from opening and that lady said she would send me something to clean the gasket with. Turned out to be a small tube of 303 Protectant. I already had a large spray bottle of it.

Sounds like the lift mechanism is stripped. They're available, just make sure what you have. I called Fantastic Fan and gave them a Maxx Fan part number.

My 3610 has Maxx Fans. 🤦*♂️

Make sure the motor is not loose and making good gear contact. You might be able to see it one of the gears is stripped like a worn out Phillips screwdriver.

I just had this same problem. When the fan is opened or closed the mechanism would go past the stop and make a horrible clicking noise at it jumped the threads. It would do this about four times and then stop. Called Maxxair and gave them the Serial Number and they told me the part I needed to order. I haven't had a chance to fit the new part yet though.

Ours was just stuck....the seals were really tight to begin with. If you can reach the manual knob just turn it until it releases.

I get up there once a year and rub a good coat of Aerospace 303 on the gasket under the fan roof cover. They dont hang up anymore. Lift right up as soon as you hit the button..

Both of our vent fans broke within a few days of each other even though one was used twice as much. The "operator" part on both broke which caused it to act as if the gears were stripped. We identified the manufacturer Maxxair and Camping World identified the model based on our Montana Vin #. The part cost $15 and was very easy to replace.
