Anchors Aweigh, or Gulf Shores State Park, Gulf Breeze RV - these are the ones we have been too and would recommend. The problem with Anchors Aweigh is that it is too close to Lamberts. Added too many inches to my waist line.
By the way, welcome to MOC.

I was just doing research on this subject myself. Here's the website to Gulf Shores and actually the rest of Alabama parks at the same time: http://www.alapark.com/gulfstate/reservations.cfm

I'm currently in the State Park. Nice place at reasonable rates. Sites are available right now. Yesterday happened to drive through Gulf Breeze which is also a very nice park, but they said they were full thru April. Except the end of Dec. there was a week they weren't, yet I seen a few sites empty on our drive through. Didn't question her on this as we are paid at the state park thru the end of the month anyway. Johnny's looks nice also, but don't know anything about there park. Anyway you look at it, Gulf Shores is a nice location.

We have been staying Jan/Feb at Island Retreat for the past four years. Lots of great people that return each year, nightly activities and overall just a nice place to be. We have also stayed at the State Park prior to moving to Island Retreat and it is a great place. As far as Johnny's and Anchors Aweigh, we have friends that stay there every year but they are a little far out from the beach area but nevertheless, all of these locations are very good.

Last time we were there (several years ago) we stayed at Gulf Breeze. Very nice park. But next time we'll probably stay at the state park.
