Fridge vent smell

I’m getting a real bad smell from 2 black pipes coming from the fridge vent on the roof, I’m in a 2010 Montana high country bunkhouse. The 2 other pipes on the roof got the vent caps. I thought my rig only had those 2 could theses also be vent pipes ? They smell very bad, I got duct tape over them till I figure out what that smell is coming from, any help would be appreciated , thanks

Where are you when you notice the smell, on the roof I hope? If they are a vent pipe they usually do smell. Being around the fridge my guess is it would be the galley tank vent. All vent pipes, house or RV, have gas and odors exiting them into the air. That's their purpose. Taping them closed can cause sink and tank draining issues.

Jim is correct. As long as you’re not smelling the odor inside the trailer, all is well. Maybe just fill the galley tank with fresh, clean water & dump it a couple of times to rinse out some of the solids that may be collecting in there. Keep the dump valve closed until the tank is mostly full to prevent solids from collecting in the tank, decomposing & causing the smell.

Whatever tank treatment you might be using in your black tank could also be used in the galley tank to help with the odor.

Those vents should also have caps on them if they didn't before, unless all our rigs have been different.
