You can buy a lot of DEF for the cost of a delete kit

But you don't get nearly the same result! I WILL be doing my F350 6.7 PSD as soon as my warranty expires next Summer.

Ram/Cummins forum has thousands of threads on this subject. bottom line was better performance , slightly improved MPG, loss of warranty and illegal. if your state does smog inspections you wont pass.

In some states you won't be able to trade in to a new truck without putting the deleted truck back to stock.

I have a tuner on my 08 6.4 Ford. There is a world of difference. It’s a different and better truck. More power, 600 HP much more responsive. It don’t wait to fuel before boost like it did before so there is a lot less hesitation. You do get better fuel mileage maybe one mile per gallon, but not 3 or 4.
I would say know what you are getting in to. Do your research. If you do and get the right tuner you will have a better truck.

My state doesn't require inspection on anything rated for 10,000 pbs plus. Mine is 11,400 to no inspection required.

Some states require a seller to have vehicles inspected when licensing. If I bought your truck and couldn’t license it, we might have a problem

Didn't mean to imply that I would try to conceal the delete from any potential buyers. To many of them it would be a positive upgrade.

To me if it’s a good tuner, one that preserves the built in engine safety features is a positive. Some do and some don’t

New trucks with DEF get better mileage than older trucks without DEF.

If a person hasn't driven a truck that has been deleted/properly tuned I guess they would never understand.

If you do install it, say goodbye to any engine warranty you may have!

Truer words were never spoken.
Your warranty will depend more on your dealer than the manufacturer. The manufacturer don’t come out and inspect your truck. They take the dealers word.

It is not about the DEF. Its about all the exhaust problems. Out of ware to it will cost about $1150.00 at the dealer. The delete kit may well be worth the $ plus side benifits.

Hi

Don’t bet on this.

In 2013 we had a problem with a car we purchased in 2012.

For a year the dealer tried to repair this problem.

The manufacturer sent a team of engineers or technicians to the vehicle to inspect it 3 times.

At the end the manufacturer said they had a design problem they couldn’t repair (no provision to adjust the front drive axle caster).

They refunded my entire purchase price except tax and title transfer fees.

The tech at my Ford dealer told my Ford had only checked one truck. The reason they checked that truck was because the guy got smart a$$ed with him and he asked them to check it. Not saying Ford would never check one but when I asked the tech to see if he could find the Spartan tuner on my 08 he couldn’t. Then on the other hand I don’t care if they find a tuner on my vehicles. I bought them paid for them and will buy an engine if I haft to. No big deal. Been thinking about a 5 Star tuner for my 2015 2.7 Ecoboost.

Hi Lynwood

My attitude as well however our truck doesn’t have DEF and I have no reason to try to improve it.

It has served me well and without the trailer will outrun a stock Corvette.

So with 200,000 miles on it I just don’t have an interest in a tuner. LOL

Keep the old gear in case you want to sell or trade back to a dealer. (DON'T THROW IT OUT)
