Murphy's law strikes again . .

but at least nothing big broke. We've had an LED nightlight plugged in next to the kitchen slide ever since we bought our 3665. Nothing ever happened to it even though the microwave door has popped open and the plate slid out once (amongst other sundry things getting bounced around). Got to Monument Valley, put the gear down and started opening the slides. Heard a crunch/pop noise when the kitchen opened all the way, but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Finally figured it out this AM when I found the clear plastic top was missing off the nightlight. Felt around and found it on the floor between the wall and trim of the slide. Trim doesn't look to be very loose, but who'd of thunk it!

We've crunched a few things over the years and missed a few things when we were in a hurry and thought we had everything put away. Refinished the table top this summer and then missed a glass bowl on a high self during our second move and yup we'll be refinishing the table again next summer.

Walt where did you stay at Monument Valley?

We stayed at the View CG. Cost $20 to get in and $42 to dry camp the night before driving the loop. Pricy, but wouldn't have been any different than at the nearby KOA. Only issue we had was they closed today, but cut off all the water at the dump and drinking water station the day before we came - since the maintenance guy told me he'd worked at the KOA for several years and was just doing what his boss told him, I believe they've a fairly inexperienced CG manager. The bathrooms are great, but there's no anything to hook up to. (Our solar worked great!)

Got to add that we drove from there to four corners and then are on our way to ABQ, currently in Farmington, NM. The US highways through Navajo Territory have got to be some of the worst we've ever seen. Of course, just after leaving there, they magically get much better. Makes one think sometimes . .

K0LCB.... I bought an RV for that reason and I hear it could have been a lot worse if I bought a boat instead.

I crunched the desk chair from my desk in a slide in my Monty. I think Murphy was kinder to you.

Well, Murphy was with us also, nice guy. After leveling the rig and unhooking, I started letting out the slides, sounds occur?? What the heck is that, started looking around and low and behold, one of the cabinet side by side doors was ajar just enough to catch the slide. Stopped outward motion and started bringing it in. What's that sound? The other door was also ajar just enough to catch the slide. It never fails. You get over confident and things will go wrong. There isn't a lot of material to work with to fix it, so I call on McGuyver tactics. Not perfect, but functional. Now, I tie-off all the doors so nothing flys out and doors don't get caught.

We learned many years ago to tie the doors closed as well as some drawers. Things happen! Always a surprise. Everyone has their own "experiences" that last a lifetime. Keep on RVing.

We have not had any problems with slides hitting doors because we go through and tie off each cabinet door. We had that problem with our previous 5th wheel and it is always a door you can't see you just hear the damage. We did have the problem with the microwave where the door came open and the tray flew out. The dealer replaced the microwave but we always take out the tray and plate while traveling.

We also have crunched cabinet doors. After the last incident, I started taping the doors closed with blue painters tape, which is working quite well. Doesn't hurt the finish and is easy to apply and remove.
