Best, Doris Campground at Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge
Least favorite, Pittsburg, Kansas town RV parking area. We go there to visit grandchildren and the choices go from bad to worse. The town campground would be nice if it weren't real tight (can't get out of a spot and to the dump station without going across the grass and even then it's an obstacle course) and right in town.

Kid at heart here.
Best: Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground (yes, very expensive and touristy but they are worth it for a first class family camping vacation, IMO)
Worst: Ridge Top Motel and campground in Bryson City, NC. It was a parking lot behind a motel. EXTREMELY tight to maneuver our 33' sob fifth wheel between trees to the campground, then we realized we were basically parked in a big parking lot with hookups in a shabby neighborhood with vacant trailers in need of repair.

I can't decide on a best because there have been so many that we loved, but for different reasons. Like the one called Eagle's Rest in Valdez Alaska or Centennial CG outside of Anchorage, where the park came complete with a 3 year black bear roaming the grounds.
I do remember the worst however, very vividly. It was so bad, we refused to stay there. We had originally booked a place sight unseen in downtown Anchorage, whose name has been permanently wiped from the memory bank of my mind. All it amounted to was a asphalt parking lot with water and electric. I kid you not, the spaces where only slightly wider than a normal parking space and opening the slides went over the lines.

Wow, that's a hard one. Been to numerous really good ones, several really over priced horrible ones, and a bunch in the middle. Don't know if I have found the "perfect" one yet.

I gave my favorite RV park but not my favorite place to camp. That would be the Shirley Basin and Union Pass in Wyoming. Both are miles from any thing and no body to bother you. If you won't to get away these are places to go.

Geez, I have a lot of favorites, but since we're going back to one of them this coming weekend, I'll say Danforth Bay in NH. Big, wooded, sites. Private, private, private. Plenty to do without wacking you over the head. Good for families with kids (like we used to be), as well as empty-nesters (like we are now). Just an all-around good place to camp. Not to mention the proximity to North Conway (SHOPPING!) for her and local freshwater fishing holes and good cycling for me.
As for the worst, I'd prefer not to mention names, but electrical cables running across the roads to each particular campsite, muddy interior roads, tight unlevel sites, and broken down old seasonals as far as the eye could see. Bunch of good ol' boys pounding beers next door, which, I didn't personally have a problem with, but it didn't fit the "family camping" narrative too well. It didn't help that it rained the whole time we were there, which was one night due to the atrocious state of affairs.
Overall, there have been a heck of a lot more winners than losers in my camping history. I guess that's why we love it so much.

Our favorite is Chatfield State Park in Colorado. I don't have a least favorite because once burnt I don't go back and forget about them.

Our favorite by far is Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in the Panhandle of Florida. We are heading there in two weeks for a return visit after a two year hiatus. Least favorite is the KOA at Wytheville, VA. When we stayed there, the sites were alternating and were so close that our awning touched the neighbors awning to make one big porch between the campers. That was a few years ago and they were supposed to add additional modern sites, but we have not been back to verify.

It occurred to me that one persons favorite could be another persons nightmare and should have given more details on my favorite. Wichita Mountain is tight and has trees that will scrap the Monty but taking it slow it's not a problem. On the other hand, wild turkey, deer, elk and buffalo can and do wander right thru the campsites.
