Water Pump Problems

After not using the Monty for two years, we are finally able to get back on the road with some traveling. In checking out the rig, I have found that the water pump will run, but no water is pumped. There is water in the tank, though. Also, when hooked to city water, water is available at each location. Is it possible due to the long hiatus that the pump needs to be replaced? Any suggestions?

Here is a follow-up to solving my water pump problem stated above. I opened the compartment where the pump is located. After examining the pump and piping, I couldn't really see any problems. Then, I began looking at the water control panel and found that the "winterizing value" was in the "on" position. . .thus preventing any water from flowing into the pump. I don't usually use the winterizing valve, but, since its been two years since we've used the rig (due to us rebuilding our home following a wildfire loss in Sept/2012) I mustuv activated the valve. So, once I turned the winterizing valve "off", letting water flow again, the pump worked just fine. Now, I need to turn off the stupidity value in my brain--if only I can locate it.

I would double check the water line into and out of the pump for blockage or crimping.

I would make sure there is at least 1/2 fresh water tank level.
Disconnect or turn off city water and turn on the pump. Open a water faucet to release pressure and see if the pump won't pick up prime. If not luck then further investigation and possible pump replacement.
Good luck and safe travels.

Not sure if you do or don't have a screen filter at the pump, but on our SOB trailer a few years ago, we lost water flow from the pump. checked everything I could think of that would stop water flow, so changed the pump. Not knowing any better, I swapped the filter to the new pump. Guess what? No water with the new one either. Finally figured out how to take filter apart, cleaned some green slime from the screen, and we were back in business. I'll bet, even if you sanitized you tank and plumbing, you might have a clogged pump screen.

I had that problem with mine at one time. It turned out the screws on the pump head were a little loose. I guess it caused a small vacuum leak. It worked fine after tightening them.

I had your same problem when I put my unit in service this spring. Took the pump apart and found when I blew out the lines to winterize some water remained around the impeller. Froze and broke. I had a spare pump in storage so just changed it out. When I winterize next time I'll remove the lines going in and out of the pump and blow a little air in there or may just go with the anti freeze.
