Hi. Haven't had a problem with our unit, but you might want to read the instructions. It is VERY specific about what to do if the motor fails. The big warning is....if you try to remove the motor, "things will come apart" and you will have to take it to the shop to get another motor installed. I guess it's somewhat like a garage door spring, if it comes loose, things go "zing" all over. Plus, it's the motor that holds it in place, without it, the awning may not stay rolled up. Try an outside power source to run the motor and see what happens.
