Big Sky Onan LP Gen and Surge Guard and Autoformer

Well in anticipation of a new unit coming in about 6 weeks I am looking at some early mods to insure it's safety.
In my present unit I have a Surge Guard Hardwired Protector and it has been great. I want to do the same with the Big Sky but also install an autoformer. What I would like to know as I am a bit challenged on this area is how would these two components get wired in and what would need to be done to have them installed along with my Onan 5.5 gen?
If necessary I would leave the Autoformer out but I really would like to have it on board.
Not to be a dolt but if you have the information I will probably need the simple version as I can do most anything but I am not an electrician and have little experience with a generator built in.

Thanks
Bob

Bob, I would have the dealer wire in the unit and put it in the line before the transfer switch. By doing that you won't hurt anything when the generator is running.

Dennis has the right idea. You must not run the generator through the autoformer. Been there, done that, it's a baaaad thing to do.
