Surge Protection
I need to get a surge protector for the RV and am leaning towards the Surge Guard Circuit Analyzer that someone on the forum mentioned. I have some questions about the product and would welcome any input, pro or con.
Have there been any bad reports or failures with this item?
What do you like about this product?
If I get the 50 Amp device, will it work adapted down to a 30 Amp service?
PPL Motorhomes online has them for $117.00. Is there a better price elsewhere?

Check with Ozz on this. He is up on these type of things. He has pictures in his updates and improvements. I done mine with a protector and mounted it on the top of my inverter box. Also put one in my stick home. Pretty simple upgrade. Sorry, I didn't take pictures....JB

The one that OZZ has is a good product but the COMPANY SUCKS. I order mine from a electrical distributor here in Cedar Rapids. They have called Intermatic about this several times to find out where it is and have had several answers but no surge protector yet. It was ordered on June 28 and still no protector. Said that had to be inspected by UL. Must be made in China. Said it was to be here by the first of Oct. If there is something else that will do the job I would look into that one instead of Intermatic. Let me know what kind you went to because I am about done with Intermatic.

I went with the Progressive Industries PT50-C Electrical Management System. Seems to do everything I need it to do. A bit pricey though, but so is my Montana and Equipment. Check it out with www.progressiveindustries.net. Of course, someone will have a better and cheaper mousetrap, but works for me. BTW, I am not connected with this company.

Don't waste your money. The analyzer only gives you a snap shot on the status of the electrical supply at that time. The only protection if the status changes is against a surge. I almost had my unit burn down when I developed an open nuetral. If the one you are looking at is the 50Amp model from TRC there is a recall on those units based upon my experience.(the had recently purchased the company that originally developed and sold those units and slapped their label on it. While inspecting my melted unit they decided they didn't like the design or the liability risk and issued a recall)

I can Stongly recommend the Surge Guard model 34750. I moved up to that and it is great.

Check www.tweetys.com for the Progressive Industries surge protector. Good price and this appears to be a good unit. It has already saved me once with a reversed nuetral
