Health Insurance question

Well we did it. Sold the house and we're going full time for a couple years. How do you folks do your health insurance? Right now I'm on Medicare and have a
supplemental plan here in California. I called the plan to inquire if I would be covered out of state. She told me I could go to urgent care or the ER in an emergency and they would have to take me and the plan would cover it. She then asked how long we will be travelling and I mentioned a year. Well if we're gone longer than six months I become ineligible for the plan. Is there a nation wide supplemental plan available? Seems like it would be good business to sell one but it could be a regulatory nightmare.

We have a PPO managed Medicare plan through UnitedHealthCare. There are different tiers but we are covered anywhere in the U.S. I see a doctor every year up north and another one down in Florida (FL residents), the DW also has two different doctors, one in Florida and one up north.

If you still have a residence is California, then why should your insurance company know when you are (on vacation?)

We have Medicare and Tricare for Life as a supplemental. Never have been refused treatment anywhere.

No longer have residency in Cali. Now officially reside in SD.
