G614's
Has anyone bought from Simple Tire .com? They advertise G614's for $317.99 plus shipping, my shipping would be $21.59 each plus $20 to mount and balance. Some what cheaper than a local dealer at $382 total. Do you think going with a local dealer is worth the extra $112 on 5 tires would be a better way to go? Also having trouble locating dealer who Lug centric balancing, local say maybe he could, he would have to see wheels.

You may want to check and find the Manufacture date of the tires. I told my dealer I would not accept anything over 6 months old.
They ordered them from the manufacturer in Akron, Ohio and they came in two days, and were only two weeks old.

You might check out a Sam's Club if you have a membership. They have competitively priced G614s. You might save the shipping cost. I don't know if all their stores have tire shops. Joe

Why? A new tire that's been properly stored but dated up to 24 months earlier is every bit as good as a tire manufactured today according to my commercial Goodyear tire dealer.

Take that price to your local dealer - he may match it. Never know until you ask!

That's the ticket right there, "properly stored" how would you know? No way to tell. I still would not want a tire with a 2 yr date code and still pay top dollar. JMO

Speaking of tires Scott, have you seen the numerous threads related to Goodyear Marathon tires here on the forum? I see you have those tires on your trailer. The forum discussions about these tires are well worth reading.

My son in law always buys tires over the internet and has had great success. Recently two tires were destroyed when a curb was hit. The internet tire company honored the road hazard warranty but what a PITA. Just the waiting for the new tires to arrive then getting them mounted and balanced. Not bad mouthing the company because they did everything they were suppose to do but not sure the hassle was worth the savings. With two destroyed the vehicle was out of service while we waited for the new tires. I mostly try to deal local just for the convenance and like to support the local business people. Also like having someone local to go to when there is a problem particularly on large purchases even though I realize a tire can fail anywhere. Just my 2 cents, Jim

Yes I know... I'm getting prices at Lazydays and CW for the G614's. I hope they will give me some credit for the Mara-bombs. My unit is very heavy, I know those tires are at there limits.

After having 3 blowouts in 2 years, I decided to never run less than G rated tires again. The stress and hazards of a tire change on or near a freeway just aren't worth it. That's not to say I'll never have one, but I'm doing what I can to lessen the odds of something like that happening again...JMHO...

Hey, Scott, let us know what those two dealers give you for prices. I am in need of a new set. Last time I needed a tire CW was cheaper than LD.

Just for information purposes, when we insisted on the G614's on the rig in place of the Marathon's, the dealer credited us $500 towards the G614's. Keep in mind, they will be used tires since they hauled the rig from the factory. We did all five tires, so that meant we got $100 a tire for the Marathon's. I was satisfied with the swap. Don't leave it up to them, tell them what you want and what you expect for them!

When we were making the final deal yesterday on our 3725RL at Lazydays, the first option I insisted on where G-614's. Mine only had about 10,000 miles on them so I told the salesman we could even switch. He said they preferred to just install new ones at $250 per tire, so I guess they are allowing me around $100 per Marathon trade.
