Texas this Winter

Looking for help in locating a good place to spend the winter in Texas. Have stayed at Port Isabell about 9 years ago.

We have stayed at Llano Grande RV Resort in Weslaco; very nice with excellent facilities including tennis, woodshop and golf course. Check their website.

There are a couple of RV parks on the Boliver Penninsula that are nice. Our faverite is Crystal Canal. It is on the intercostal Canal and you can fish right behind the RV. Just a short drive and Ferry trip from Galveston. Or if you would like a Lake better there is Oak Ridge Marina on Lake Fork. Great Bass fishing! They have long term sites, it is under new ownership and there is a lot of improvements being made. There is a nice Cafe there as well.

There are many good places along the coast and down in the RGV. Lots of folks perfer the RGV as there are many activities dedicated to the senior crowd. Check the websites or the campground directories, find what you want and make a reservation. I would not make the journey without the reservations.

Ozz, Checked with Iesla Blanca today they had 2 site but neither could handle the slides. Stayed at Park Center back in 97. If I find a spot in the area will look you up.

birdie, the best way to reserve, is to get anything they have, then check back often and upgrade. That is exactly what we did, got a site we couldn't get the slides out, then upgraded a week later and found a larger site. You just have to call and call every other day. Persistence pays.
Good luck gal.

Wife and I are at Palmdale om Highway 100 by Los Fresnos. Park has lots that fit any rig 40' x 90' not the regular hand shake park. Park has clubhouse, outdoor heated pool, large hot tub, shuffleboard, billards, large outdoor covered charcoal grill for the Friday nite bring your own meat cookout and happy hours.

We stayed at Palmdale for the winter 3 years ago. Great place/park, out of the traffic area and the local people very friendly. It's only about 20 miles from South Padre....if I was going back to Texas I would stay there again.
