Sites at Barksdale

have any of you military folks stayed at Barksdale AFB. I am going east in a few days and I wonder if the RV sites are decent.

We stayed at Barksdale AFB on 11/14/05 for one night. Its a bit of a pain to get to the park and the B-52s do a lot of GCA approach's and the path is right over the RV park and it is quite loud, but they do stop flying by 2300 hrs. It was enjoyable all told, but I think I would pass on by next time I'm that way as the price isn't that much cheaper than the civilian market. If I had a few days to stay it would be different, but for overnight, I'll pass.
The 8th AF museum would be a great visit also.

Yes, we stayed there in '03 and enjoyed our stay and would go back next time we are in the area.

How close is Barksdale to the hurricane damage? You might want to check for availability.

It is just east of Shreveport - good thought about checking. Except for active personel most limit stay to 2 weeks.
