Having lived in the mid-west all my life, I'll point out a couple of exceptions:

1) A big low pressure system traveling by to the north or south of your position will provide wind 24 hours/day till it passes.

2) There are some mighty big thunderstorms that sometimes form at night... That's the reason I keep a weather radio in the rig. If there's any question about the possibility of a storm overnight, I leave it on the alert mode.
