First blow out

Hit the road this morning and made it about 20 miles before we had our first blow out..... Camping World hooked us up with some new G614s from one of their neighbors. It was a blessing in disguise. I called several places and was told they are on backorder nationwide until Sep 8.... This place beat Camping World's price by $600...

What do the G614s have on their sides?. I freaked cause these say LT235 85R16 range G. I guess I thought they would say G614......

Safe travels everyone!

If they are Goodyear's they should say G614 in big letters on the sidewalls. You will not regret getting those tires put on. Happy trails and safe adventures to you!!

I'm glad to have safe tires! We still need to stay around 65mph though don't we?

My husband found the"big" G614 on the tires... Not sure how I missed it. Stressed I guess....

Thanks everyone!

Sorry you had to experience the blow out before changing over to the G614's. We had ours put on by the dealer BEFORE we even left the lot. At least your travels to the Fall Rally will be a bit safer now.

We had some bad tires on our old Monte and actually we had a flat and didn't know about it until two truckers let us know about it. We got pulled over and called Good Sam for the road service and the young man that came out advised we get all new tires because all five were getting tire rot. That was on our way to Florida and while at the Tampa RV show we bought the Tire Minders for the rig. Have since bought Tire Minders for the TV also. Since a one ton TV does not come with the tire monitors on them because they are classified as a commercial truck for GM. See you at the Fall Rally!

The speed limitations on the G614 as I remember it is 70 mph...but for me 65 is my top limit. I like 60-62... Here's to safe travels on much safer tires! John

Peace of mind is under valued, the 614's let us not worry about tires!

Anna and Jim. I think we warned about the blowout that was coming if you kept the factory standard tires. Hope we didn't jink you at the MOC Mid-Atlantic rally. Glad you got the G614s. Hope the blowout didn't damage too much.

Glad you got the tires changed. Contact Goodyear. If you return the tire to them, you might get some money back.

I was biting my tongue over this subject, didn't want to have to say we told you so, just glad they finally upgraded to a G tire. I too hope they avoided any damage to their rig. We had to replace a couple of them while in Las Vegas, and due to them being a heavy truck class tire, had to go to a Goodyear commercial tire dealer to get them. Our doorside tires were damaged due to a bearing failure in March. The one tire was finally down to the steel cords, but was still solid. The other was wearing weird due to the first one damaged due to the bearing failure.

I think we were blessed and didn't have any major damage. A little black on the white quarter panel - if that's the right name for it.... I'm hoping he can buff it out when we get home...

We did listen to everyone and I really knew we needed to replace them before this trip.... Hubby thought we would be ok.... Needless to say we have them now.

Safe travels and see everyone soon!

We had G614's on our 2005 and had factory installed on the new 2015 Monty. If you have good alignment on the dual axles the wear you may see over the first 3-5 years is very minimal. You need to change trailer tires out by time not wear as we do on the tow vehicles. Also it is best to have metal stems on these high pressure tires too.
