We have already had two day-night shades replaced and our coach is a 2004. Keep an eye on the rest of the coach and don't wait too long to get things taken care of.

We have one shade where one string has torn through the hole in that plastic bar. I've not found a bar to replace it so plan to remove it, shorten it a bit, drill new holes and install grommets, then replace the bar with some kind of spacer to fill the space from the shortened bar. Hope that works or I'll have to replace the shade.

About those day and night shades...when we did our walk-thru at the dealer, the man demonstrating all the goodies told us these shades could be a real problem if not handled right. He told us to be sure to pull the shade OUT/AWAY from the window and window handles to keep the shades from getting caught. Your first impulse when you want to raise/lower those shades and they don't seem to work is to yank at them and then they get messed up. But since we have done exactly as our demonstrator showed us, we have had no problems with the shades. Maybe we are just lucky?

Like #29fans, our dealer also talked about the day and night shades during our orientation. And so far, knock on Monty, we have not had a problem.

We were also warned about the care needed to avoid tangling with the window handles. Our dealer also suggested that if you use two hands (especially on the wider shades!) positioned on the bars just inside the strings and make sure that the shade stays horizontal while going up or down you stand a better chance of avoiding damage. All this good advice goes right down the tubes when the little end caps on the bars fall out. BE CAREFUL OF THOSE LITTLE RASCALS!! The minute one pops out, the shade goes crooked and then falls out the unsecured end and if you don't shred it you're lucky. Guess they have seen it all at the dealers. Thus far we have had no damage. They are a great feature when they work properly.

We've had to put those caps back in a couple of times, particularly on the big dining room shade. I guess I need to find some kind of gummy substance to hold them in place without making them non-removable.
