Looking for a spot on a California beach?

Silver Strand State Beach is a beautiful spot on the Silver Strand between Imperial Beach and Coronado, California just west of San Diego. The campground is just a parking lot, dry camping, but you're right on the beach and the setting is awesome. Campground costs are around $25.00 per night and there is a campground host present.

Funny you mention Silver Strand; Steve and I are scheduled to stay there during my Navy hospital rotation April 30th-May 18. We purchased a generator since it is dry camping only. It was tons cheaper than the other RV parks in the area.

If you like the beach, you'll love it there! Which Navy hospital will you be in for your rotation?

The downtown Navy Medical Complex in Balboa. Just finished open hearts at Loma Linda, back at San Bernardino for a month, then we head to Navy for more obstretical experience. I don't know if I will have much time to enjoy it; Steve and the dogs are gonna love it I am sure! We went down and checked out all the places a couple of weekends ago; just fell in love with that long stretch of beach.

The beach is absolutely beautiful. We loved looking for sand dollars and watching the para-surfers. They don't allow dogs on that beach but there is a dog beach at the north west corner of Coronado, right next to the Navy Air Station there. We never found it but I think it was the campground hosts who gave us directions. Have fun.
