Moisture

For all of you full timers, what kind of dehumidifier do you use and/or recommend? We have wet windows and I don't like that having to constantly dry them, and it cannot be good for my 3500RL.
Thanks, Ron

We haven't used any dehumidifiers in the over six years we've been fulltiming in all sorts of weather, both warm and cold. We merely keep one vent cracked open (in the toilet room) and the vent outlet over the range. Seems to keep moisture down.

We have a Sears de-humidifier. love it! We normally run it on the 3hrs on 3 off setting at 45-50% humidity. Does a geat job.

I'll have to agree with Orv, so far, I haven't had any issues with moisture on the windows. I keep a vent cracked at all times (winter/summer) and that does the trick. there are a few other units in the campground where i'm at that have condensation....so it has nothing to do with where you're at...a lot of it has to do with the "lack" of circulation. Cracking a vent has to be a lot more efficent and easier than buying a dehumidifier, using electric and having to dump it, and it adding unnecessary weight to mention it cost some $. Why not just crack one of your vents and leave it like that 24/7? But if you want a dehumidifier, to each is own. just my 2cents

It may seem counter intuitive to open a window when it is cold outside and the furnace is running, but ventilation is the answer to condensation. Also consider that if moisture is building up in the atmosphere in the coach, then other things are too. Ventilate!

If the moisture does get ahead of us, we have on occasion, ran the A/C and electric heat together to pull out the moisture quickly. That is essentially what a dehumidifier does anyway, --first cool, and then re-heat the air.

You don't have to open any windows. Just crack a vent.

No dehumidifier here either but than again we stay pretty much in the warmer climes and have little problem with condensation. If we ever do have a problem than like the others we'll crack a vent.

Many thanks for the replies. It sounds like I need to open a vent and leave the stove/oven vent open and that should take care of it. That sure will be cheaper than buying and maintaining a dehumidifier, not to mention adding more weight to the rv.
Thanks again, GREAT place for info.

Open vent and an electric space heater seems to work for us.

We purchased a dehumidifier while in Fort Worth TX at Sears.
We really need it here in Oregon. It has helped keep the trailer warmer too. We pull enough moisture out of the trailer to fill it every couple of days.

Still have a few damp windows - ones we don't open the blinds on very much.

Due to this dag gone Artic Weather....and the fact I have to keep the heat high to prevent freezing lines etc...this unit is dry as a bone and getting very uncomfortable. I NEED to add some moisture because I get electric shock almost anytime I touch something. Ship some of your moisture over here I can use it about right now! I just had to whine to somebody! thanks forum for listening

We also do not have a dehumidifier and do not have a moisture problem. Cracking a vent seems to be enough. During showers we open the water closet vent and door and let its fan run. While cooking that creates steam, we use the range hood fan/vent or sometimes the fantastic fan if creating a lot of steam.
