hony in carpet.

Last year when we were in route to Az., for the winter we had a problem. That night when we arrived in Payson for the night we found that a top cabinet door had open and all ths itmes in this cabinet were on the floor. There was one jar of beanut butter with a broken lid, one jar of honey broken open all over the carpet, one bottle of syurp broken and also all over the carpet. Well we cleaned it up the best we could with hot water, at that time it looked as if we got it all. Until this summer when it got hot in the camper it lookad as if it all came back so we cleanedit again and it looks good but when you touck it your hand is sticky. Has any one else had this problem and is sh how did you clean it ?

Never had it happen but I would suggest having the rug steam cleaned.

Spot Shot (found at walley world) works real good on all kinds of stains and may help.

Think Glenn might be on to something, have it steam cleaned by a professional and tell em what you spilled.

Good luck,

Carol

I could loan you my dog, but I cant guarantee the results. (Look honey no more honey, but how are we going to fix that big hole in the carpet)
On a more serious note I think Glenn is on to something. I cant think of any other way to get it out.

If you have one of those little steamers for clothes that travel places sell, try it. I have one because cruises don't want you to bring an iron. I've used it for all kind of things. BTW if you gals have a straighting iron for your hair, it works as an iron for clothes also. That is how my daughter and I pressed slacks on our cruises.

Our first year and trip I had a bottle of syrup fall out of a top cabinet behind the slide. I spooned it up, washed and washed while at a rest stop - thinking it was up and not too bad we went on. Upon arriving home we steam cleaned and found that to be the best solution as I could still feel and smell it. Good luck.

Safe travels.

Never had it happen, but we put dowels through the door handles to keep the doors closed. We also had drawers built and installed with dead bolts on them to keep them from rolling out.

Marge says that she read a household hint for RVers to use men's aerosol shaving cream and the foam draws out the stain. It's worth a try.

We've never had anything as sticky as honey, but we use the "Little Green Machine", the one that heats the water on other stains both at home and in the 5th. It works very well. You might try that. Good luck.

In a former life I had a cleaning business and part of our service was carpet cleaning. I suggest you not get one of those rental machines since they are really hot water extractors and not a true steam cleaning. I would call someone with a commercial truck mounted machine, like a Stanley Steamer, who can actually generate steam with pressure and enough return vacuum to suck out the residue. Wouldn't cost very much to do the whole rig.

I just told my wife about this and suggested that she put all the stickey stuff in the bottom cabinet. As usual she told me where to put my advice, she puts stuff like that in plastic tubs in the sinks.
