I always ring the doorbell when showing off the Montana! Everyone gets a kick out of it! And we have actually had visitors use it once in a great while. It really gets the dogs attention also.
Had to replace the battery in the outside button part once so far.
If the new ones don't have the doorbell option I may just have to stick with my 2001 model. Couldn't live without the doorbell you know.

I thought about getting a door bell. Then, only for a second. I still enjoy the personal touch. Two or three loud pounds on the door. Don't cha think?

How about a small sign under the doorbell outside: "Ring once for English".

Rich, you don't need a doorbell... You have "THE BIRD". No batteries required...
Can't you get one of the doorbells that have all the different fight songs, etc? I'd add outside speakers...
*On Edit~ OMG! My mind really starts wandering when I get this tired... got to get up at 6 in the morning. Better get to bed... Where's my thong???

I installed a wireless door bell and it works just fine. It comes in handy when the campground office sends the workers around to notify me of an unannounced special event or a neighbor who would like to invite me over for a potluck. It works off of a battery and the transformer plugs into an electrical outlet.

When I come visiting I'll be knocking somewhere on the rig and not necessarily on the door. So iffn you hear someone knocking up on the front or side it just might be me.

Our 2000 came from the factory with a doorbell. The problem is not with the battery. When it rains, moisture gets inside the outside doorbell control and it causes corrosion around the battery connections. I've replaced it three times. Presently have another one just installed. I know of no way of keeping the moisture from getting inside the control around the button.
It's interesting that as long as we've had the doorbell, the only ones who use it are me and the grandchildren--me just to see if it works, and the grandchildren because they llke to hear it. Everyone else just pounds on the door!

Our 2001 came equipped with a doorbell, but almost no one ever uses it. I don't think the average person expects to see a doorbell on an RV. We even put a sign "Doorbell" over it when we were camphosting, but still, no one ever used it!!

Ozz isn't going to be able to move his unit, too heavy! My calculations confirm that he only has enough room for one more electrical outlet, and even then Sue will probably have to stay home, or he'll have to throw the ladder out!

We used to have a 2000 Montana and it had a doorbell. In fact, our good friends had a 2000 Montana and when we were camped next to one another if we pushed the button on our fifth wheel their door bell would ring and visa versa. We had more fun that week as anytime we wanted their attention we would just push the button on our door bell and they would look out the window and we would laugh some more. In fact, the first time we did this our friend couldn't imagine why his doorbell was ringing and no one outside. He was about ready to pull it off the side of the fifth wheel until he heard us laughing.
Just bought a 2006 Montana in February and no doorbell, but still have lots of laughs anyway.

We had a 2001 2880RL bought new and it came from the factory with a doorbell. It worked for awhile but after about a year of not being used it quit working altogether. I assume the contacts inside the button module were corroded but don't know that for sure. I'd try pushing it about a hundred times to see if that would scrape out the rust enough to make contact. Next I'd see if there's a way to remove and replace the button. If I recall, ours looked like a standard residential door button. That 2880RL also came with a telephone on the wall as did our 2003 3295RK.
See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

You guys and your door bells.I would have never thought about a doorbell on a camper if I had not seen it here..anyhow we now have a doorbell on our 3400..Saw one at Ace hardware(wireless) and my hand just went down and picked it up..have no Idea why I did such a dumb thing..it goes DING...DONG( what did you expect). it was installed about 1 hour and we were in the camper re assembling the entertainment center when a neighbor came over and ..rang the doorbell.. Gosh she said,,what class.. your camper even has has a door bell.. Where will it end????
