Fuse in GM

Sometime back someone posted that GM had a dummy fuse in the fuse panel for the circuit that allowed the charging of the battery in the trailer. I just picked up a new fuse and for no good reason decided to check the owners manuel. It states that if you have a desiel with two batteries DO NOT INSTALL THAT FUSE. I do not know why. Yes, my batteries are being charged when the 7 pin plug is in place. So I have a spare fuse.

I did not see that in the manual, guess I will have to pull that out tomorrow and take a gander. Funny thing, my GM dealership installed the fuse for me inplace of the dummy fuse. Huh! who is right??

We had to put in the fuse in. Our truck is the same as yours. The battery in the unit was not charging.

Thanks for the heads up! As you can see from my signature, my 2004 GMC dually had a "dummy fuse" in it as well. I'm beginning to believe that Chevy/GMC simply doesn't put an auxillary charge fuse in any of their vehicles and it's up to the owners to realize this! My friend's 2005 Chevy Suburban with the 8.1 didn't have a fuse either. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention...I would have never thought to look.
