If you are trying satellite make sure the "green light" is off. That provides power to the antenna amplifier and over rides the cable or satellite input.
I hope this helps.
Safe Travels.

Make sure you have the correct source selected on the TV before you scan for channels.

Both points are excellent. Not sure about the newer ones, but our TV's are two different manufacturers and you have to pick the input source differently on each one.

On your new unit also be sure that the cable next to the antenna amplifier is connected to the correct source.

The first thing I would check is the coax connections, very often the problem is with a poor connection or a cable that is shorted or just not tight enough. Wiggle any cable that goes to the TV and see if that makes a difference.

Over the years I have had to replace several coax ends because they were installed wrong

All good points to consider. We did end up having a bad Jenson 19" DC tv that had to be replaced under warranty.

We had a TV repair guy come out and we found out that the RF part of the TV is broken, so now we need to check with Keystone to see if it can be replaced under warranty. If not then we are going to buy a new TV.
