power inverter/electrical questions Help

So I bought a HFT 2000/4000 inverter. I would like to run the 32' TV. Maybe the coffee maker or the micro for a food warmup. Here is my plan will it work? Hook the inverter up two both 12v batteries, use #2 copper strand wire 3 foot run. Mount it on wall in front storage. Now will it work if I plug into one of the inverter 115 outlets with extension cord modified with male plug (both ends) and plug into my rigs main power input. I added in front of the rig.I would use 115 adapter and plug into that. NOW wouldn"t all my plugs in the rig have 115v. I think I can only use up to 15 amps at a time is that right? I would run the fridge, waterheater, on gas.Would this hurt my rigs converter at all?? do I need to turn the converter breaker off.Last Question, The Inverter has a on/off switch. How can I turn it on/off from inside the rig. Add a switch or use the main breaker. This setup will only be used once in awhile. Will my idea work or how have you all did it.I have 3 outputs on inverter.I don't want to run cords from outsie to the inside. Thanks sorry for the long Question.

It is very dangerous to backfeed an electrical system like you want to do. Having an extension cord with two male ends is dangerous in itself and illegal to even own in some states. Miss one step and you can cause thousands in damage. Use a transfer switch so there is no chance of error. Jury rigging electric is a dangerous thing to do.

You have received solid guidance from one of the best Electricians. DO NOT DOUBLE PLUG Jim helped me wire in the transfer switch so my inverter will power my whole trailer. However I do turn off my converter when running the inverter to prevent a loop which waist power.

If you just once forget to turn off your inverter when plugging in to shore power, it will let all the magic smoke out of it and it will no longer work.

X3, use some type of Transfer switch, I would go with a manual xfer switch and once switched then turn-on the Inverter. I woo would shut off the Converter when using the Inverter. And remember to get that 15 amps at 120 VAC will require approx 150 amps out of your batteries.

I did my last rig a little differently. I wired my inverter to 4 golf cart batteries using #2 wire then ran the two inverter outlets to a small breaker box using 12ga wire. Each inverter outlet went to a separate 20amp breaker and then ran 12ga romex from each breaker to it's own outlet, one in the kitchen area and one to the entertainment center. Didn't use the inverter power for the micro but had hot coffee all day and powered my TV and satellite any time I wanted. Not sure if this is the best way but worked for me.

I have a friend who uses an inverter, he use a 20 amp adapter and plugs his shore line into it when he stops for short period so he can make coffee and watch tv. I think he turns converter off at breaker panel, but I am not sure. It has worked for him for several years
