OOOUCH!
…what is that piercing noise and why is it on?
I flushed the water lines out today. Haven’t been in the camping mood lately, I may explain all of that in a few days.
Everything seemed to go pretty well and all the lines seem to be ok. I managed NOT to burn up the water heater so far; then it started. I started hearing this piercing, hi pitched continuous noise. It sounded too much like I was back at work! I believe it was from the propane leak detector. I’m certainly glad to know that it’s there if something is wrong but that thing is definitely an attention getter. I shut off the propane bottles (which I filled not long ago and soaped the connections after changing them.) I also opened up the fantastic fan to suck out any possible bad air. It went off 4-5 times after I reset it and now it seems that it’s staying off.
I will continue to watch and monitor as I start using the propane again. At least I think it’s the propane detector. It’s located near the kitchen sink on the floor by the slide out. I was just curious, has anyone else had this to happen to them upon bringing the Monty back to life?

The propane detector is life limited and has a replace date if you look closely. I did the same things you have done and all the time the d--n thing was laughing at me. Replaced mine with one sold by camping world (sucker me). Saw one a Lowes for half the price.

That is the location of the propane detector and as Pineranch says, "they do wear out".

Is the oven knob not on the off position? Hopefully you didn't leave it on the Pilot position (with no flame) and even though the pilot uses very little propane, over a winter maybe enough leaked and is being detected.
I don't know how your sense of smell is, but I've been told mine is like a bloodhound so if I didn't smell anything and the propane detector was wailing, I'd suspect either a bad propane detector or low batteries.

I'll second that, it happened to me the oven pilot. as for the batteries in the sniffer they have none they run off the main batteries of the Monty unless you ran them dry.

The propane detector will also sound the alarm if a 2 year old opens a burner valve and no one notices it for a few minutes! Don't ask......

Yep, what David said, we have a 2 year old grandson and I can vouch for small hands in strange places.
