Inverter

We have been thinking abpout an inverter to use while boondocking, to avoid the use of the portable generator. We plan to run the coffeepot and toaster with it. What size would you recommend, and how log will it run, say, a television before draining the battery? Probably won't use both at the same time.

Thanks for any feedback.

Ouch!
Coffee pot and toaster, both high amp. draws, see my post on the compressor application for an inverter, just a few minutes ago.
You would have to have a large one, with all that is necessary for a safe operating system, quite expensive.
I would recommend the old percolator coffee method, or boiling water, then just pour it into the modern drip coffee maker we all have. As for the toaster, maybe the A-frame camping style over your propane burner.
Check out (Google it) 'The 12 Volt side of life One and Two' I think Glenn also has a good battery-inverter site here somewhere.
Good luck, Ozz

Hello Scattershot,
We have 2980RL. I added a 1200 watt inverter right beside the laundry basket.

1) It is less than 5' from the batteries. You still need 2/0 size cables from batteries to inverter.
2) It is not in the same area as the batteries. That is a no no!!
3) It was very easy to run an extension cord from inverter
into the entertainment cabinet to power Sattelite , TV, VCR etc.
4) You just open the laundry chute lid and reach down to turn the inverter on.
5) You can put coffee pot or whatever on fold down desk top and plug into inverter extention cord.
6) We have used it a few times while dry camping at casino parking lots, it works great.
& I just have to have my dripped coffee in the morning.
here is a website

Thanks for the replies. Anyone else? Appreciate the link, BTW. Looks like the 1750 is what we need, but at $200 from Amazon.com, maybe we'll buy a percolator!
