What I learned from Carefree Awnings
I scraped my awning against a tree sometime ago and while cleaning, I discovered that the plastic shroud around the idler end of the awning is cracked. Carefree makes no direct sales, even of parts. But there are an online installation and service manuals. While looking at the installation manual, I discovered that there are two pins on the idler end of the awning that are supposed to be removed after installation. Mine were not removed. I emailed Carefree and they said that the pins should have been removed by Keystone when they finished the installation.
So I called my dealer and ordered the idler cover kit. But if you have the electrically powered Carefree awning, check for the two cotter pins on the back side of the idler end and if they are still in place, they need to be removed.
