Lippert issues
First I did search but found nothing similar to my problem.
When we hooked up to leave on a trip over the holidays they system said the jacks were extended when they were not. I finally decided to just go since I could see they when retracted. When we got to our camp site everything worked fine leveling. Then upon leaving it gave the same message that the jacks are extended but they were all up. Getting home the jacks wouldn't extend at all. The control still said they were extended and would do nothing. After about an hour they somehow worked and leveled. BUT there is now no power to anything in the RV, no lights - nothing. monitor in the RV says 13 V, The converter says 13 V but nothing. I'm at this point worried about even trying to get it hooked back to the truck to take to the dealer for service.
Any ideas? Any experience with this ?

I would contact Keystone directly and see if they can have a mobile repair authorized.

Could be a dumb reply, but is the battery cutoff switch on? Assuming this is probably an electric level up system.

OK - I was able to get the trailer back on the truck and took it to the dealer. They said they would fit me in. BUT at the dealer the hydraulics again wouldn't do anything. The technicians had to start tracking the issue. Long story short - it was a total failure of the infamous 40 amp breaker. So much for auto reset. I asked about putting a 80 amp back instead and was told it would affect my warranty. I also lost all power inside the trailer so I hope its related to this breaker and is an easy fix.

Never a dumb reply - sometime people look past the obvious - Batteries were reading 13.6. FYI it has hydraulic jacks.

Glad you got your issue repaired but the dealership is incorrect in telling you that putting an 80 amp breaker in the DC line t9 dual polarity solenoid would affect the warranty m
80 amp breaker is what Lippert says “needs to be” installed. The RV builders continue to build using their stock pile of cheap jump under rated resettable breakers.

I always Call Lippert before Keystone. Have always gotten great responses and remedy quickly. Sounds like your issue might be different.

My biggest issue turned out to be a weak (POS) battery

Change the 40 amp breaker out to the Lippert recommended 80 amp breaker. That breaker feeds both the hydraulic pump as well as the 12 volt side of your electric panel. That is why your pump does not work as well as nothing inside your trailer. The breaker will not void the warranty because it is what was supposed to be installed in the first place. This has been an issue for years.

Ditto on changing out the 40 amp breaker. We had similar issues two years ago. Lippert told me they recommend the 80 but Keystone doesn't listen.

Seems odd they said it would void the warranty, I believe that Lippert's fix is a larger breaker.

Hydraulic jacks work off an electric powered pump.

I would only change the breaker to 80 amps if Keystones wiring will support it. Lippert may not know the gauge (awg) of wiring used.

I believe there is even a Lippert technical bulletin to change to an 80 amp breaker. There is no issue with the wiring, at least not to the wire to the pump.

I had the exact same symptoms with the level up. Called Lippert and they walked me through trouble shooting and discovered that the wires on one of the terminals of the reverse polarity relay were lose and the arcing caused the terminal to melt. Which in turn caused intermittent operation.

How about moving the hydraulic pump to its own 80 amp breaker. It means having to come up with a short 4 AWG battery cable “to add it”. All the rest of the connections remain exactly as designed.

To follow up - I was working on my rig this weekend and checked the breaker, I was thinking I'd put on the 80. Well turns out they put on a 50. From the little research I did, a 50 is the biggest without going to a different type of breaker. I think I'll hold off on changing to the 80 for now and see how the 50 does.

Lippert knows more about our hydraulic systems than Keystone so if they are saying 80 amp breaker should have been installed then that's good enough for me. I installed the 80 amp a couple of years ago and have had no problems as well as 100's of others who have done the same. This subject come's up probably more than anything else on this forum and there are still those that are doubters as to whether Rohmann is correct on his advice about the 80 amp breaker. He is one of the most knowledgeable members on this forum. He not only gives sound advice but many times can tell you chapter and verse where the information is that he refers to. I have never read where anyone has complained about having problems with installing the 80 amp breaker. The bottom line is it works and will take you all of 10 minutes to cut out a lot of problems down the road. Do it and forget about it.
