Hard Water Issues
We have a 3400 ordered that is coming off line August 8, so we hope to have it shortly thereafter. We are going to be living in it for a year while we build a new house, and taking weekend/holiday trips. The trailer will be parked most of the time in a local RV park with full hookups. I know that we need a pressure regulator for the city water supply, but our water here in San Antonio is extremely hard (I would never live in a house without a water softener). I have used a water filter called "Systems IV" on icemakers and hot water dispensers in houses before, and have seen these filters at RV stores. Has anyone had any experience with a filter that will remove at least some of the hardness without dropping the water flow to a trickle?

Congrats on the new unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also use a water softner purchased from Camping World. I think Carol's uses table salt and ours uses rock salt. Sure helped when we were in South Texas last winter.

Yes, Pam, ours does use table salt. We particularly like that feature, as we can just buy a few small boxes at a time, leaving room for sewing machines, crafts, dog food, dog gear, and bread machines! HA HA
Cheers,
Carol

Has anyone tried the water stick yet?

A little cheaper and uses table salt. Knowing that you usually get what you pay for, is this unit worth a try?

Ozzie,
Before I bought my WaterMark water softener I did some research and I found the reviews of the water stick a very mixed bag. I decided the water stick is best use for weekend boat trips and limited use. I did not feel it was a good choice for everyday use in an RV.
I love my WaterMark. It's easy to reginerate, made well and uses salt pellets. I have very hard water at the park I am at and it's made a world of difference. I think it's similar in price and style to the one Camping World sells but I just felt it was a better choice.
