Checking the trap lines on Christmas Day

Should have known, today's video clip on RVtravel.com was about keeping mice out. Bottom line was do your best and then use traps. Kept the access areas as closed as possible, poison boxes under the rig and still we finally (first in three years) got one a week or so ago so I put my trap line out. Keeping it easy to access the area under the stairs is going to allow me to get the Christmas mouse out of the trap that got it under there last night. Now I've got to get it out of the trap, skin it and find a place to sell the pelt, Yuck!

With the early onset of winter, the pelts should be prime and so draw a good price at least.
Merry Christmas Joyce and Dick.

Remember if you have a bullet hole in that pelt it will not be worth much.

Dick, just have Joyce cook it up for the Cat's Xmas dinner. You know they deserve a treat for Xmas dinner too.
Have a Happy.

It's a problem though. Three cats and only one small mouse. Hurt feelings would ensue if one got a Christmas present and the others didn't

If it is trophy size you should have it mounted.

That's a fine Christian sentiment. If I catch any live ones I'll mail them too you to take care of.

Thank Dick. The girls seem to keep the mice at bay. Guess these Texas mice are smart enough not to tangle with thes wicked Yorkies

You could try getting a big old snake and put it in the house. It'll catch those varmints!!!

Then the snake would get caught in the mouse traps and I'd have a bigger mess.

You need to move in closer to a bigger city, like for example Chicago. You are way too far out in the country. Then you won't have mice and such cause there are only 5 - 10 pounds rats running around and they have a hard time squeezing into our Montanas.

Our SOB 5ER is in Mexico full time. Not uncommon for her to go unvisited for several months. My first thought when opening the door is "Oh man, what am I going to find." In seven years, knock wood, the only critter we've found wasn't a critter but about about a hundred dead bees that found a way in but couldn't find a way out. Did I say "Knock Wood!" or, maybe "Knock Pressboard!"

Careful what you wish for. We work for Fish and Wildlife and before that the COE. We're always out in the boonies and this is the first time we've had the issue. Caught a second one yesterday so we probably have a family. Had the same issue once in a great while in the stick house so I do know how to get rid of them.

Say what you will, when I was growing up in Hammond, Ind (steel mill rat capital of the world) I saw where one chewed thru a steel clad door to get into a building. Bigger is just meaner.

If you get enough of them, you can spin the fur and knit a nice sweater, lol.
