New Decals 2007 3000RK

I am sure that this has been discussed before, but I can't find what I am looking for. I have a 2007 3000RK which we love , but the decals are shot and the exterior is oxidized. I am removing the decals and replacing them. I need to remove the oxidation and wax the camper. Do I need to remove the oxidation and wax first before installing the decals or do I install the decals and then remove the oxidation and wax?

You will need to remove the decals first. This is a big job and will take some time!! There are several threads on here that will give you some ideas. I used a heat gun and razor blade. I removed the oxidation by buffing with Meguire’s One Step compound 67. M6732 with high speed buffer and wool bonnet from Harbor Freight Tools. Then I coated with Nu Finish. It turned out real good. You won't find exact duplicate decals. I ordered off the internet but the decals did not last very good. My front ones need to be replaced after 4 and 1/2 years.

I would remove the oxidation after removing the decals. But I don't think I would wax before putting the new decals on. Not sure how well decals would adhere to the waxed surface.

The question of new decals has come up many times over the years. There have been numerous postings about sources for the replacements. I don't know if any one is better than any other one. I was able to get free replacements for the front and rear from Keystone when I replaced my 2007 decals. But that was years ago. The new front decal has faded over time, but is still in good condition otherwise. Some of my original side decals are just now beginning to peel.

I've used this Scotchbrite decal remover on two different RV's. It works great and also removes most of the glue. I used Goof Off to remove remaining glue.

Then buff and polish like h2ojocky suggested. Note that "ghosting" from your original graphics will be very visible. I did my best to get rid if them by wet sanding, and then polishing to get gloss finish back. Some ghosting is still visible 4 years later.

I purchased my new graphics on Ebay from seller db_graphix. Just search "rv graphics". They actually had Montana graphics very similar to my original ones.

After 4+ years, front decal has faded and needs replacing again.

It took me 2+ days to remove old graphics, 3+ days to remove ghosting and polish, and 3+ days to apply new graphics. It was a real PITA.

If your new decals are the same size and shape as the originals the ghosting really is great for positioning and aligning the new ones. Just align the edges of the new decals to the edges of the ghosts. Position is then correct and ghosts do not show.

I'd remove the old, polish the surface, then wipe the areas that will get new decals with rubbing alcohol so the new stickers will adhere to the surface. Once you have your new decals on, then you could wax it all.

Thanks for the information. I found this graphics remover that works really well. You paint it on heavy and wait 15 minutes and the decals come off with a plastic scraper. I have looked at some of the decal shops online. I am thinking of doing something custom to match the color of my truck. Not sure which way I am going to go. I have time to think about it. I still need to get the oxidation off first.

Hello, we also have a 2007 Montana 3000RK, we also love it, and we are also just starting to remove the old decals and replace them. Was just wondering how yours came out. Where did you get the GraphXoff? I just started using heat to remove the decals, what's left of them, and a Goop Off to remove the glue. It works, but very slow. Would like to try your method if you're still happy with it.

Rapid remover is a quality vinyl graphic remover. Available on Amazon. This stuff really takes the glue of really well.
