anyone have any pictures of how a slide floor is constructed? is it just wood with a tarp like covering on the bottom..or does it have foam board..or insulation etc?
No pictures, when I did some work on one of our 2010 slides, I remember basically outside black covering, wood bottom, carpet on top. Don’t recall any insulation.

On youtube - there is a 5 minute long "Montana Construction" video published in 2009 from Keystone. At about the 4:22 mark they make a statement like "even our slide room floors are insulated with R14 astrofoil insulation and radiant technology in the ceiling. Most other brands don't even think about insulating the floors in their slide-outs." Things could have changed since 2009 - but the video can bee seen here...
Unfortunately I did not see any shots of the slide-out floor structure. I looked at a couple of other videos under the topic of "slide out floor repair." They were repairing floors on SOBs and they did not reveal the structure framing. The floor unit was already a buttoned up ready to be inserted in the slide-out. All I came away with is the most slide-out floors appear to be a framed unit that look to be about 2" thick. For Montana I would assume it to be some sort of welded aluminum tube frame with plywood on top and bottom, with rigid board insulation between the plywood...but that is pure speculation on my part.

How timely. Just had to have my slide out floor fixed under warranty. it is not very thick. If there is insulation there it is most likely very similar to that foil bubble insulation they put above the coroplast (sp) bottom.

jeffba - you are correct. I googled "astrofoil" and it is the foil covered bubble stuff in the slideout floor - not foam board as I theorized above. Their documentation even claims R15 for "down flow heat resistance" - so this is the stuff!

As far as I know the slide floors are nothing more than 3/4 ? flake board (osb) with a darco (trap like material) wrapped around it with the astro foil (nearly worthless) on top of it. Then carpet on top of that.
I have read several posts about what size screws to use to attach the table to the slide floor. Using screws too long will go through the floor and stick down below it and damage the seals and possibly the floor inside.

Stand with one foot in middle of slide and one foot on main floor. Best if close to pedestal table. Now rock your weight from foot to foot. Watch how much the table will rock back and forth. Can't believe the floor is more than 5/8 OSB.
I had to remove the floor on my 2011 HC 343RL. Corner was rotted out. It was a bugger!
3/4" plywood with plastic type material on bottom and foil stuff on top and then carpet.
Cut off bad end at angle and replaced with 3/4" ply. Finding the bottom material was not to hard to find. Keystone sent me info on where to buy.
My circular saw can cut at 40 deg, I believe, but more than 45*. I cut off about 40 - 48" of bad, biscuits and tie plates and lots of construction adhesive. Putting on the new bottom film was quite the operation. Several cans of spray contact adhesive and several extra hands and job done. Getting the floor back in was another job. I did take the floor out. propped up the slide and removed the screws and several weeks later......Would I do it again??????
Slides are longer than 8 feet. Does Keystone use plywood longer than 8 feet? How do they marry plywood if they use 8 foot plywood. Years ago you could get plywood up to 12 feet from a marine supplier. 3/8" marine grade plywood was 5 ply instead of 3 ply had no voids and was expensive. That was when wooden boats were the norm.
When I was a teenager I helped my uncle build a 21' long 8' beam inboard boat. That was in the 50s.
Looks like that leak was from the top outer corner running down the wall. I taped up all my slides (everywhere) with eturabond tape to make sure that will not happen.
I know you can get 5x10 plywood. We have some at work. The sub floor in some units are one piece from front to back ( I believe osb though)

Yes, the flooring in our Montana's is longer than 8 feet. Have been on a number of factory tours and the main floor is one piece.
emonnie, do you have more pictures of removal and repair of the slide floor ?
How do you get the floor section out of the slide? How is it attached to the walls?
Is it inside or under the walls? Is the floor independent of the slide rails and mechanism?
Your info is greatly appreciated ! ! At least, now I know it can be repaired.
