Price of disc brakes from Mor ryde

Ordering a new 3625Re, asking Keysonte to take unit to Mor Ryde for disc brake upgrade. Does $4100 sound right for brakes only?

NO! We added disc brakes and independent suspension for only $1K more than that. Should be more like $2400.

Tom thanks for reply, I would really like to have this option, any idea of today's cost for disc. They kinda have me at a disadvantage as I am in SWFL. A good 20 hour drive back up there if I wanted to get it done myself. Figure a easy $1000 round trip.

Too much in my opinion. I have not converted to disk but have checked on parts to do so...a little under $2000 for parts.

Since you are in florida, I can tell you about the company that were at the Tampa RV show. Check out www.stopyourtrailer.com , they were installing Kodiak disk brakes in the price range of $2000.00.

Agree, $4100 sounds very high.
If you really want to know, just call Mor/Ryde. They can quote you a price, but it could change a little depending if they need anything special.

Tom is exactly right, we paid $4,800 with the Rally discount several years ago for IS and Disk Brakes. There is a labor savings for doing both at the same time and prices are higher now, but that price is a ripoff.

If you come up to Goshen for the Fall Rally in September you will see what the Rally is all about, the training session and all the fun you will have while there! You will also be able to get discounts on the materials and installation of a lot of different items by MorRyde and other companies that are associated with Keystone on the Montana's! Can't go wrong with it and what a great experience to meet other MOC members and learn a whole lot about the Monte and how it is built and also see some of the mods the members have done to their rigs also!

Wow, that's a bit less than the price I paid for the Big Sky package. Too much for me right now, but it seems as if others have already priced out a parts package. I like the local dealer install if you can find a good quality shop that will back their work. If you have any problems you can always get it repaired close to home.

When I was purchasing parts last week to replace the brake assemblies and repack the bearings on our 3402, I asked the counter guy what the cost for parts to upgrade to disks. He quoted me about $2K for everything and said if I was capable of doing what I was purchasing parts for, this would be a project I could do myself. This was at the local Redneck Trailer Supply. http://www.redneck-trailer.com/ They have locations around the country and also ship whatever you need. They were very helpful providing the parts I needed. And, I have no interest in this company, other than being a customer.

We had disc brakes installed 3 yrs ago and the rally special was about $2400. We had the axles checked shortly after the installation and they said it was Kodiak also. I'm sure the dealer is padding the price for his share. They're great to have but not a requirement and certainly worth waiting to get a better price. As suggested, call Moryde direct for their price.

Thanks to all that responded. I think the problem is my local dealer as Keystone Rep seemed to have no problem dropping unit off. I did contact Mor Ryde and this is what they quoted me:
If Keystone is unwilling, we would also be willing to pick up your unit.

Your biggest decision will be whether or not you want to go with a grease bearing or neverlube.

Tandem 7k IS w/ Avg. Tubing
$3,000.00

Tandem 7K Disc - Kodiak 2 pc Bearing
$3,000.00

Tandem 7K Disc - Kodiak NL Bearing
$3,200.00

Tandem 7k IS & Kodiak 2pc Disc w/ Tubing
$5,600.00

Tandem 7k IS & Dexter NL Disc w/ Tubing
$6,100.00

So seems local dealer was charging me $4100 for the $3000 upgrade.

I am just going to wait. Who knows, all my trailers don't have the self adjusting brakes, so maybe I will be ok with these and save money. If not all go for the whole IS and Disc.

Thanks all

Ours on the 06 3400 was 2500.00 rally price in 2008 for the IS system only including a 2 inch hitch they made and installed for us. For the high end user it is a great investment IMO.

MorRyde did an excellent job installing our disc brakes recently on our 2013 Big Sky. The hydraulic setup requires a cam to work with the towing vehicle brake controller. Because we have an older Chev (2007) it required 2 cams. The tech indicated that Ford, Dodge and perhaps the newer GM trucks only require one cam. Our price was lower than $3000 for the job. Good Luck.

A couple more thoughts. The Dexter brakes use a proprietary pad, whereas the Kodiak uses ones from GM (Buick I think). So not only are the replacement pads for the Kodiak cheaper, but they are readily available. John Kohl had Mor/Ryde replace his pads last year and they only charged him around $80, parts and labor - and they repacked the hubs too!

The other thought is to make plans to attend the Fall Rally. If you get there early, you can get the upgrade at the Mor/Ryde facility (they have a small campground available) and they usually offer attendees a 10% discount. I had them do the brakes and independent suspension and they made sure to level up the trailer with our tow vehicle.

Having it done at the Mor Ryde factory is the best way to do it and at the Fall rally is the most cost effective way to do it. This time we will pass on staying inside the plant overnight.

I installed Kodiak brakes with a Actulink 1600 Actuator on my 3000RK for less than $1500 and than sold my old brakes and drums for $400 on Craigslist. Brakes, seals and brake lines from E-trailer. Actuator from Amazon. Hardest part of the job was running the brake lines under the one piece underbelly.

What's different with the Morning Ryde disk brakes? Significant improvement? Worth it?
