It's finally here!!!
Truck came in on Friday, picking it up today. now I don't have to beg-borrow or steal a tow vehicle!!! I just got a 2012 f250 lariat s.c. super duty, short box 4x4, all black outside, tan inside, heated and COOLED leather, It is a 6.2 liter gas, with a 4:30 gear, will tow up to 15,500. I am way under that but it gives a little room just in case somthing comes up I can't resist!!! I know it is a gas job, but as I was saying in an earlier post ahen asking on some ideas, I only drive it maybe 4000 to 5000 miles a year and tow with it maybe 500 miles a year. So to justify a diesel and an almost 8000 dollar hit just did not make sense at this time. Maybe down the road when we get out more, a new diesel will be in my future but for now life is good!!! Now I need to install hitch and locate a snow plow frame for this winter and shortly we can give it a test run.

Warning... a caution on the 15,500 tow rating. This can only be achieved if your truck weighs 7,500 lbs because you must look at ALL the ratings and ensure compliance if you are concerned.
My truck with just me and full fluids weighs over 8,100 lbs, and with my 15,300 lb 5er rating this means I can tow a max of 14,900 which means I'll never get close to that rating with all the options, accessories and the diesel. Your truck with the lighter gas engine, the short bed and being a super cab (not crew cab) should help keep the ratings up there, because you don't have all that extra metal at the truck, but check the door pillar to know your numbers for sure. You also lose some weight capacity having to install a heavier slider-type hitch or even heavier automatic sliding hitch. Just a couple of things to consider in keeping with your towing style and where you want to spend the dollars versus weight considerations.
The other problem I had is that the F-250 cannot carry as much pin weight on the rear axle so while the trailer, 5er rating and the GTWR were satisfied, the RAWR and GVWR for the truck suffered. There's a lot to know for how the ratings interact and what your truck gives you.
Know your ratings, then weigh everything to know the actual weights. It sounds like your reasoning for the gas versus diesel is a common one that others follow. The truck will lug and use more fuel when working hard during the tow but it doesn't sound like it's often enough to worry about (you ain't a full-time traveler, for example) and should work just fine.
My truck only has heated seats but I do wish I had the cooled seats. You'll love your new ride! Many Congrats to you!

Yes, what is your GCWR? Normally 3/4 ton gassers have low GCWRs.
