More Stat Issues??

Our 3791 has the Dometic digital stat and I've never noticed this behavior b4. Over Christmas holidays some of the family resided in the 5r and had to run the heater. I explained the operation and left it with them. The next day, I noticed the rear a/c unit running. When I checked, the stat was set on furnace. Warm air was blowing out of the floor registers and I could only tell that air was also coming out the ceiling registers. It felt the same temperature by hand as the air going in the return. I have to assume the compressor was not running. I turned off the breaker for the two a/c units. I just checked again now and when the stat in the bedroom is set to furnace, the front a/c blower also comes on. We camped last December and February and I did not notice the a/c running when the stat was set on furnace. Are both stats broken or was I too enthralled with the new camper last winter to notice the a/c units running? We were in the wild blue then and the 5r is under a covered building now so maybe I just did not notice. I sure wish I could wire up a home stat for the a/c and heat operations!

This is a common complaint due to a "feature" of the Dometic thermostat. I seem to remember the manual actually documents this behavior but I don't recall the specific reference.

Anyway, these systems can have the fan running on the A/C if the system calls for heat and the fan setting on the thermostat is set to anything other than AUTO.

Do a Search on "furnace ac fan" and you will find lots of hits.

Thanks Carl. I found manuals for a 2007 version of the Dometic Digital and also the Comfort Control 2 but not mine. I'll dig through the pile of manuals in the 5r later. There might be a manual there. I had just never noticed it b4 and don't see any fan setting while on furnace since I think it is all controlled by the furnace board. And again, I may not have noticed the a/c fans running full balls when we were out in the great yonder.

Thanks again. There are a number of youtube vids on this very issue. My brother had put the fan on high. Not auto.
