DVD storage

For those of you that have DVD`s.And I have quite a few.Theirs a nice storage unit. Its called "discgear"It will hold 100 dvd`s or cd`s.All in a nice tidy unit.It comes with soft ware, where you can find each dvd that you put in this unit.Press a button and a title sheet comes out from the bottom.Move the selecter button to the dvd you want.press another button, the top opens and the dvd you selected is their for the taking. Its a real storage saver.I didn`t realize how many DVD`s I had until I started to fill this unit. Will have to get another one.The soft ware is free on their site. You just type in the title of the DVD,and when your donejust print it out and it fits in the tray that opens up underneath. So is any one is a movie lover, but hates all the room the dvd`s take up,this is the thing you want.

I have one of those myself, and they are great. Already filled it, I need to get another one. They send me coupons once in a while, and I am just waiting for another one to come. Highly recommanded. Nice and easy to bring all my movies from home to the RV and back again.

Do any of the stores handle these or strictly online? Does it take batteries or just pneumatic? Looked it up and it looks like a nice compact unit. Did you discard the plastic boxes? Inquiring minds want to know.

No batteries Required. As far as purchasing, online is the only way that I know of, however I live in NYS, and I got mine at the NYS Fair, and they have been there the last 3 years.

As far as the cases, I saved some of them for other uses, but discarded the rest.

I purchased mine on line at HSN-home shopping network-item number is 901-820.This was the lowest price I saw.It comes with a album so to speak, that if you want-you take out the insert on the dvd case and store it in the album.Discgear has their own web site that they sell it also, but it was more money then HSN.Just do a search on goggle and quite a few places come up where it can be purchased.

O and one more thing i threw out ALL the cases. No batteries required. The dvd`s in the cases was what was taking up so much space.I just wish they would stop making good movies, this hobbie is costing me a fortune(lol).I also store in it home movies that I transformed from VHS tapes to VCD`s.

I am going to look into the 'discgear'. I am currently storing mine in the book type leather CD cases. I am using the ones that hold 72 CD (got them for 2$ ea and shipping on a web auction)and they take up very little space. Perhaps the discgear will be better. Always looking.

Travel Safe.

harleyrider,
I'm curious to know the software/procedure you used for transforming VHS to DVD. Many years ago my Dad put all of his and our old 8mm movies on VHS. We recently purchased a Sony Multi Media computer that is suppose to do this but I haven't had time to try it. One of the many things I'm going to do when I retire! Sept. 06.

Ed & Sue

What I use to transform VHS to VCD is a device I got at "best Buys"Its called a "dazzle"You hook up your cables from your VCR to this device right to your PC.Put in a tape you want transferred.Push play and the movie records to your hard drive. Then you just burn it to a DVD.I use "eay CD creater"to do the burning.Remember the quality of the DVD will only be as good as the quality of the VHS tape you are transferring from. But un-like VHS tapes it will last a life time. You can also transfer from your camcorder as well.same procedure hook up the cables from your camcorder to the Dazzle device to the PC.Its fairly easy to do.
