I bought combo locks (no keys) for each tank strap. Works good (so far). Same combo that's EZ for DW and I to remember.

It is against the law to have the compartment door locked. A lock on the tank itself does not prevent the tank from being turned off.

When my Monty was broken into last July, they only got into basement, I asked the Deputy about tanks. He told me that they hit them when it gets cold and he has some certain ones he checks out when it happens. He puts a mark on the tanks they have and looks for it on his return. BUT still, even if there isn't a mark it isn't evidence. So I suggest we start putting our License # or some other code on the Bottom of the tank, they most likely wouldn't see it there, then we would have something for the LE's to ID our Tanks.
Strangely, even after 7 Rv's and this was the first theft, I still didn't lock the Tanks ???? Well it's someone else's rig now!
BTW: They didn't get in my Door due to Deadbolt even after destroying both locks and they couldn't get in Laundry door because I leave the Bathroom door open over it and the small TV sitting on it!
Of the 4 Rv's they hit, mine was the only one they didn't take the Tv's ETC!

Had to update everyone. My RV dealer sold me new tank at great discount. I have a great relationship with my RV Service Facility. They sell Keystone, but not Montana's. When I brought it home from Texas Dealer, Keystone let them do warranty service on my RV. Went in to buy new Tank this morning and shared the story, never asked for discount, went up to pay and it was just over $60.00 OTD for 30# tank. Quoted $90 plus at CW. That's how local dealers make lasting customers. I had to share because it took little pain out of the theft. Wish other dealers took this kind of approach. I have locked mine in with heavy duty cable.
