need help with a/c

I need help with the air conditioner. Today when it was real hot the air was throwing the breaker. I have it hooked up at home on a 30 amp service. It has worked fine up till now. When I first cut it on it starts up fine. About a minute later the compressor cuts off and only the fan runs. A couple of minutes later the breaker throws. Later tonight when it was cool it ran fine. Does anyone have any ideas what is happening?

No. I only run on high. It cuts off about 1 minute after starting.

Check the voltage... if you don't have 115 to 125 volts under load don't run the AC.... you can overheat it and burn it out.

Jsnip42, either you don't have the voltage, as Gruffy mentioned, or that circuit has something else that, together with the AC, are drawing more than 30 amps. We used to hook ours up to a 20 amp circuit when we had a house. It worked fine until either the clothes dryer or the microwave fired up. You might have other things drawing on that circuit too.

Another thought..... if that 30 amp breaker is next to another heavily loaded breaker (say directly above the cloths dryer) heat fron the ajoining breaker plus heat fron the RV 30 amper can build up and cause a premature trip.

If you can, try to place the RV breaker between two lightly loaded circuits.

Also, repeated trips cause breakers to wear, and they soon begin to trip before their rated capacity. Any chance its an old, often tripped breaker and in need of replacement???

I took Monty to the dealer today to be checked out. I bought a new Honda eu3000 generator and it will not pull the a/c. A old 4kw generator cab barely pull it. There has got to be a problem with the compressor I think. Hopefully i'll find out in a couple of days.
