Heater Help

Got out of bed this morning to turn the heater on and nothing, no blower no clicking, no beeping, zip noda, nothing. Have not moved or done anything different
Furnace worked yesterday morning.
We are plugged into 50 amp.
No beep on the remote. dometic Duo-Therm
Changed the remote batteries.
Wall unit both the green and red lights are on
Nothing happens when manually pushing heat button on wall unit
Checked propane, ok
Checked 12V fuses, ok
What else should I be looking for??
Did a search here and found nothing for this particular problem.

Allen, Sue looked at my phone last night and I had 6 messages, one of them from you. (New phone) I check it every day and never saw any messages.. anyway, I will call you, if i can find the number..
OK heater.. try killing power to the furnace=12 volts, also kill power to A/C= 120 volts.
Then try it.

Have you checked your house battery/s? Low battery voltage is a common cause of furnace problems, particulary with electronic ignition sytems

Thank you I did the 120 disconnect and 12V fuse and things seem to be back to normal. thank you OZZ for the call & info

I suspect the battery could have been the cause of the problem.
When checking the batteries I found one with both posts totally corroded and the fluid getting close to exposing the plates. Topped it6 off and cleaned the posts, hooked everything up and then notice the date sticker on it Dated 05. Guess it was time for a new one. A new heavy duty golf cart battery from NAPA priced 146.00. Will get 18.00 core charge back when I take the old back. The other one is Dated 07 so it will need a change soon I suspect..

Both batteries should be changed at the same time. The batteries are only as good as the weakest one.

You mentioned you found one of batteries with a corroded post and fluid and it was dated '05. If you are running the batteries in either series or parallel or both the rule of thumb is that if you replace one you need to replace all if the other(s) are older than 3 to 6 months. This is because the older batteries will draw down on the new ones. Think of it like a drive shaft universal joint, if one goes you replace both because of the added torque on the old joint which will then fail.

Don is right, it is best to replace both batteries at the same time. I would be suspicious of the 5 year old battery as well.. Putting a good battery in with a poor one will shorten the life of the good one as well since it will be doing most of the work.

We don't know if you have 2 x 6V or 2 x 12V. If you have two 12V then check to see how they are connected. The batteries must be connected in parallel of course (neg to neg) & (pos to pos), then for best results the Neg from one battery should go to ground and the Pos from the other battery should go to your 12V service.

This configuration helps to put the same load on both batteries during use, and charges both batteries at the same rate during charge.

Batteries should be checked a couple of times a year for corrosion and fluid level.

I have access to a grease type compound that we use to coat all connections on battery installs on mountain top radio locations. Before this became available to me, I used a heavy grease like wheel bearing grease to coat the terminals and cable ends. This prevents the corrosion from happening. Make sure all connections are good and tight.

Yes the second battery is on order and should be in tomorrow. By tomorrow night they will both have been replaced
